Product Description
This colorful, inventive family game is easy to learn but deceptively mind-boggling! One at a time, Each player drops A shape into the vertical game board's drop zone. Players earn points for the highest level that their shape reaches when it lands and extra points for touching bonus circles. But be careful: don't break a landing rule! The shape you dropped is not allowed to touch matching shapes or colors after it lands. If you break a landing rule, you will go away empty-handed. The winner is the player or team with the most points at the end.

About the Designers
Now that he has retired, Uwe Rapp will be able to spend even more time inventing games. He is married and has two children. Bernhard Lach is an attorney in Heilbronn, Germany, and is married with three children. After over 25 years together in the Marbach chess club, the two decided to invent some games of their own. With their game ideas developed as a team, as a counterbalance to their more contemplative games of chess, they look for simple but clever game concepts with an emphasis on fun.
What do you get?
4 double-sided and interchangeable side pieces and 2 double-sided base pieces easily slide into the plastic vertical game board with base. Each player starts with 9 shapes (circles, squares, diamonds, and triangles) in their respective color (blue, red, yellow, green) to drop into play over the course of the game. Points are recorded using the colorful scoring track and wooden score markers.

How to PlayOn their turn, players choose a shape in their color and drop it in the vertical game board's drop zone. If the shape doesn't break any landing rules based on where it landed, you earn points. Aim for bonus points by dropping shapes to land in a bonus circle! Players take turns dropping their shapes until all have been used. Then, the player with the most points wins! |
VariantsVary the game play by playing in two teams, rather than individually. Use the side and base pieces with colors to give more weight to the color landing rules rather than the shape landing rules. Use the joker pieces (2 times per player in the course of a game) to earn points even if you broke a landing rule on a particular turn. These change-ups add variety to the game, and also cater to different skill levels. |
Game AttributesDrop It is your next game night favorite! Easy to learn and teach, this visual puzzle game is a great pick for families and friends who enjoy fast-paced strategy games that encourage friendly competition. |

It’s a fun an easy game for 7 to 12 year-olds to play, without getting board. My 7 year old daughter loves counting and keeping score.
This is a game that’s more fun with three or four players. You cannot have any two of the same color or shape touching, but you don’t know how far the pieces will fall, so you take a gamble.
When you are done. It can be tricky to remove the pieces that are stuck. Playing on carpet helps bc you can tap the board upside down on a soft surface to loosen them.
This game is unique and I recommend for children under twelve who can count well.
Pro
- Quick to learn and play. A game only takes 20 minutes, including teaching.
- Can play with a variety of ages and skill levels. It also comes with 'wildcards' and can be given to younger or less experienced players to account for various skill levels.
- Quality pieces
- It is fun, several times every game everyone bursts into laughter about some unexpected outcome
Con
- Not sure about replay-ability, the game is very simple and I can see people getting bored quickly.
- To get the pieces out between games requires you to dump the entire board upside down, meaning everything falls out. It would be nice to have a way to reset the board without this happening.

According to some other reviews, defective copies are fairly common in Drop It, I was fortunate that my copy was quite well made, my only problem was one of the green square pieces was somewhat defective, but it didn't seem to affect the games we played.
The scoring board seemed a little unnecessary, we actually didn't use it, instead we handed out Monopoly money $1 and $5 bills for points and counted out all of our money at the end of the game to see who won. We're excited to play this again, definitely one of my favorite games I've ever purchased.
