The filter in the pictures is after 3,000 miles, and I cut it open to check the performance, durability, and construction. The construction seems really high quality. The exterior is similar to most filters, but the inside is where the quality shows. The filter media is super evenly spaced inside, with basically no variation in how the pleats are spaced (didn’t get a picture of it before I cut the filter media out, but you can see the spacing on one cut image. Also most filters I pull apart are not evenly pleated like this). The core inside is metal and very thick, and lastly the drain back valve is integrated into the filter itself with mostly metal construction that still felt new after 3,000 miles on the filter. Cutting this filter open makes me feel good about the quality put into this by mopar and by the manufacturer, I see no shortcuts or cheap materials in the making of this filter. I will definitely be using this filter again.

    These filters are probably overkill for a 5.7L hemi but it's cheap insurance. I change the oil often so the filter gets no where near clogged. But with oil filters, bigger is better so if you are pushing the drain intervals you'll find that the SRT filter will take a lot longer to clog up compared to the much smaller OEM filter.

    Prices are still decent so the total cost for an oil change is still way under $100.
