Original rewiew:
I've been a Fitbit Charge 3/4 user for years, so when I switched to the Amazfit bip s, those are mostly what I'm comparing it to. If you're wondering which one is right for you, or if you're currently a fitbit user wondering how they compare, this may help. I had two charge 3s and then a charge 4 for a span of 3 years. Then, when my 4 died (out of warranty and due to something I found out was a common problem with Fitbit), I decided to see what else was out there that could meet my needs better. My main wants were 1) long battery life. I didn't want to charge it every other day. 2) waterproof. I swim a lot, I kayak a lot, I shower a lot. I wanted it to be able to stand up to that. And 3) I WANTED TO SEE IT IN THE SUNLIGHT! The Bip s not only has it, but also met my other two requirements. I'd never heard of the amazfit brand before, but it had good reviews, so I gave it a shot. I've been wearing it daily for about a month, and here's how it compares to the charge:
Pros: YOU CAN SEE IT IN SUNLIGHT! All my exercise activities are outdoors in Florida. It's sunny. I wanted to be able to see my step count, or scroll through menus on the watch, or SEE THE TIME when I was outside (a novel idea for a watch, right?) It was really that third requirement that led me to the Amazefit bip s. So few smart watches/fitness trackers offer the transflective lens that you need to use it in direct sunlight. Fitbit doesn't. I couldn't see a thing when I was outside with my charge. With the bip, I can see it clearly.
Longer battery life than the charge. I was getting about 10 days of battery with the charge. I can go about twice that with the bip. It says it can do up to 40 days without the gps on, but I use the gps when I exercise, so I'm averaging about 20 days or so.
Bigger color screen than the charge. I wasn't sure if this was going to be a pro or a con since I didn't want a massive watch face and I have small wrists, but I like the size. It's bigger than the charge obviously, but it makes it easier to read and it's got a bazillion watch faces you can choose from. (Note, I have a bumper shell on mine in the picture, which makes it slightly larger, but not bad).
The app is easy to use and doesn't lose connection with my watch. One of the things that made me crazy about the fitbit app is that it would randomly stop syncing with my watch every month or so. I'd have to delete and reinstall the app, delete the bluetooth and search again, and restart the watch. Super annoying. I've only had the bip for about a month so time will tell, but so far it hasn't had any trouble syncing with my phone. It's fast and it doesn't dump me off.
Long press of side button starts exercise recording. I bike a lot, and with the charge I'd have to scroll through the exercise menu on the watch, then find bike, then hit start, then go...it was a lot of scrolling and clicking to get it to record. With the bip s, you can program an exercise that you do a lot to start recording at the long press of the side button. I push the button for a few seconds and it starts recording my ride (with gps). I don't even have to look at it to turn it on. Another bonus is that it automatically pauses when I stop biking (like while waiting at a crosswalk) and then automatically restarts when I start moving again. This is nice because it doesn't include the wait times when calculating speed or actual biking time.
Easy to change bands. The charge had special edges on their watch faces, so you had to buy a charge compatible band. The bip s can use any 20mm watch band with the pins, so you can change the band out to a lot more options. (As you can see in the picture, I've changed my band). The bip comes with the regular black athletic band, which added to the square face kind of make it look like an 80's casio calculator watch. I put a blue bumper shell on mine to protect the edges and changed the band to something I like better for the office.
Cons:
Doesn't play well with Myfitnesspal or Achievement. Fitbit could integrate with both of those apps that I use, but Amazfit doesn't (yet? Please work on that). I got around it by linking Amazfit with Stava and then Strava to myfitnesspal and Achievement, but it's clunky. Also, sometimes Strava records a different calorie burn than Amazfit did, so records in Myfitnesspal are not always accurate (although that could be a Strava problem). Something to note if those apps are important to you.
App is missing some of the funtions that the fitbit app has. It's pretty good at all the fitness related stuff, and I really enjoy the personal activity score that it gives you, but it lacks the food diary and the female cycle calendar that the fitbit app offers. There are other apps that can do that stuff, but it was nice having it all together in one place. Also, the main screen of the fitbit app could be customized so you were only seeing the information that you wanted to see, in the order that you wanted to see it. That doesn't appear to be an option for the amazfit (or at least I haven't figured out how to do it yet), so I'm seeing stuff I don't want to see on the app and having to dig for some stuff that I do want.
Sleep tracking may be a little off? The fall asleep and wake up times are pretty accurate, and it seems to know when I'm awake throughout the night, but the amazfit has yet to record any rem sleep for me, and it shows a lot less deep sleep than what the fitbit was reporting. I'm not sure which one is more accurate, but I'm assuming I've had rem sleep in the past month and the amazfit just isn't picking it up.
So far, I REALLY like the bip s. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the fitbit app, but I'm finding that it does have what I need and I don't really miss the rest. And the stuff that it does do, it does really well. Not to mention that it was half the price of the charge. If anything happens to this bip, I'll certainly buy it again. I can't say that about fitbit.

I can't say that about fitbit.
So far I find the app really easy to use. I had no issues pairing the watch to my phone.
I didn't realize I'd like the sleep tracking function as much as I do but it kinda has helped me get better sleep. I've found when I go to bed at a certain time I tend to have better sleep! I never noticed until I started tracking my sleep patterns and I think that's a neat feature now.
One "minor" issue I found in the 5 weeks I've had it is that one day my timer stopped working in freestyle mode. the timer just doesn't start and so it won't log your workout. I googled the issue and others had the same problem. If you pause it and restart the mode, it will start counting. I've also found that if I go to setting on the watch and turn off the watch entirely then turn it back on - that seems to have fixed the timer. But I'm not sure if it will happen again since other people have had this issue too. It doesn't seem to happen under other modes. It's an easy fix though and not enough to deter me from recommending the watch.
I've also found the step counter can be inaccurate but that goes for all watches. I work in a warehouse and it thinks I'm walking when I'm packing boxes. Or sometimes I like to play a drum game that it tracks all my hits as steps. Not a big deal but just take the steps/cals as a BIG estimate and don't rely on the accuracy of it for counting calories. It's still a good motivating tool though!
Also of note, I have a 6 inch wrist (I'm on the small side). The face of the watch almost takes up the entire width of my wrist and the band is as tight as it can go (and it wiggles a bit). If you are buying this for a child or have an even smaller wrist than 6 inches, it probably won't fit.
Overall I really am happy with this purchase and would definitely buy from this brand again.

This Amazfit watch is awesome. I've researched many but none really came close. One problem I initially had with it was that it froze at 7 p.m. every single night and didn't come on again until 6 a.m. even if I hit the button and it would not light up. I realized that I probably accidentally set up an option or two to automatically time out every single night from 7 p.m. till 6 a.m. one thing I do really miss is that although I can see the messages I could not reply. Which defeats the use of the watch if he can't at least reply yes or no. You still have to go to your phone to answer. One of the best features that the Pebbles watch had was that you can set up about 10 different replies. So if you're a nurse, or in a meeting and you need to send a quick reply without pulling out your phone every time you just can't do it.
Long lasting battery (thanks to TFT screen) and built-in GPS locks on fast (within 30 seconds) in outdoor areas.
Using it for my daily runs and have only needed to charge once ~14 days of usage (Most features turned off. Heart rate sensor on only during exercise).
