Product Description
Fishing spots made easier!
What are the depth, bottom contour, and water temp? How grassy is it?
Just cast out your Deeper Smart Sonar PRO+ to get instant depth and water temperature readings. Once you are retrieving your Deeper PRO+, it pinpoints the features carp love, like humps, depressions, and marginal shelves. You will see the greenery and its thickness. Deeper, also, helps you to discover if the bottom is hard or soft, with gravel or silt. As the Deeper PRO+ is a sonar, you can even locate the carp themselves. So, if you’ve baited an area, you can monitor if the fish are staying there or moving elsewhere.
All the information at your disposal to catch that perfect carp you have always wanted.

The good:
The battery seems to last longer than advertised. After about 3.5 hrs on one day, the battery was still above 60%. This was using the high frequency sonar, with the GPS turned off (boat-mode). Based on that, I would estimate the usable life of a new unit is more like 7 or 8 hours rather than the advertised 6.
I have not had any trouble connecting to the device, except as noted below. The GPS, once it establishes location after initially turning it on, can re-find itself within 5 seconds after a new cast.
The ability to turn off the fish icons and adjust the sensitivity and color palette make the display very powerful, providing much more information than any of the other castable sonars I have seen.
The integration of GPS is a huge benefit for being able to map out a body of water and then refer back to it later to make decisions about future fishing locations.
Limitations of the design:
These issues are mostly inherent to the design, but should be considered. First, the Deeper does not like rough water. One day I was hoping to map the bottom below a dam, but the river was up slightly (not flooded), and the Deeper refused to connect. While the water was choppy, the waves were not huge, and the Deeper did not appear to be submerged by each passing wave. Perhaps the antenna was just too low in the water for an effective signal. Moving above the dam to flat water, the unit worked perfectly. I would expect trouble on a windy day on any reasonably sized lake, and forget it in the ocean, unless in a protected bay. The way I see it, the only way to improve on this is to make the device bigger, which hurts castability. For small lakes and ponds under normal conditions, I expect no problems.
Another issue is that while the battery life on the Deeper is good, battery life on my tablet is not. During the same 3.5 hours of use I mentioned above, my tablet battery went from ~90% to ~20%. I had the screen on the whole time with probably the brightest color palette, and was using the tablet GPS. With the screen off, I would expect the tablet battery to outlast the Deeper, but I would also guess that most cell phones don't have nearly the battery life of a tablet.
I know Deeper sells a device to hold your cell phone on your fishing rod, but I would be very hesitant to use it during a cast. And I don't know of any easy solution for a larger device like a tablet. Holding the screen while reeling in is a challenge with this setup, and the risk of losing an expensive cellular device overboard is very real.
The fish detection software is not great. Anything from rocks to sticks to dock posts are likely to be identified as fish, so turn that off. For me, the sonar signal is sharp enough I can usually tell the difference except for underwater trees and brush. Horizontal woody debris is tough to distinguish from fish, and I don't know if I'll ever be sure what I'm looking at around the edges of ponds with lots of deadfall trees.
At this time, the app does not continue updating the bottom contours for a given body of water unless you are still scanning the same day (or maybe within 24 hours). So if you go to a pond on Tuesday and do a partial scan, and then go back on Saturday and scan the rest, you will have two history files each with a partial contour map rather than one complete map. Also, the contour interval is fairly coarse (~1m), so subtle bottom variations in shallow ponds are not visible in the map view. You can, of course, see the bottom variation if you scroll through the sonar data.
Finally, the technology in this device is awesome, but there's still more information I want to know. In particular, I want to know what's happening "over there", not just what's happening "down there". While scanning straight down is very useful for many things, sideways looking sonar can do things like look in shallow water, look under docks, precisely map the location of bottom cover, etc. Maybe someday we'll get sideways looking sonar in a castable format. For now though, the Deeper Pro Plus is the best thing available.
Update after 6 months of use: I have had two contacts with customer service and both were resolved satisfactorily. The first was because the internal GPS quit working on my Deeper. I sent it back to Deeper (Lithuania) and they were unable to reproduce the problem. However, they sent me a new unit anyway, which has been working ever since (~4 months). Other than the long shipping times, I was very pleased with the service. The second contact was for some feature requests to the software. I received a prompt response stating, in short, that they are already pursuing each of the things I had suggested. So the good news is, the Deeper App is only going to keep getting better with time!
Finally, I would like to update one of my earlier statements. The contour spacing on the Lakebook website is much finer than 1m, so additional detail is available beyond what's visible on your smart device.
I am still very happy with my purchase, and am keeping the rating at 5 stars with this update.
Used finding grouper and snapper.
Used casting up in coves .
Also good for pier fishing finding structures et cetra.
Let me say in short first, the Deeper fish finder is great, and I recommended it already to several people who asked how we did it ....
First of all, let me start with saying that I am not fishing often and rely on a friend for setting up the gear as he is more interested in that, and I am more in the tech toys. We have been to the same lake the previous 2 years, one time shore fishing and it was more time spent on setting up gear because of lost hooks than having lines out in the water. The next year we trolled in a small inflatable and - as we know now - we were not fishing deep enough.
Fast forward to this last Memorial Day weekend, we had a small boat, we had the Deeper PRO+ fish finder, we had 30ft jet divers. We started at 7am on Saturday and trolling with the Deeper PRO+ let me first tell the highlights:
1) Trolling speed is supposed to be around 2mph and the app shows you the speed of the boat based on the GPS of your phone - awesome!
2) I mostly used the app in the wide scanning mode and with displaying icons. That is easy to read and the only issue was the bright sun and the phone display.
3) We were fishing 30ft deep, so the depth display was crucial to not get tangled up somewhere close to the ground
4) The topography of the lake that we build up trolling was helping a lot avoiding shallow water
5) The presence of fish detected was in my opinion very accurate. I used the wide scanning mode mostly, but either way the success rate was insane (I will write more below)
The data provided was all things we did not have in the previous two years. And YouTube helped too with setting up the "presentation" - I only fish like 3 times a year, so experienced anglers, forgive me, please. With help of the Deeper PRO+ we knew the trout was 25ft to 50ft down, we knew where they were, we had the jet divers which go down 30 feet at 130ft of line let out. At the end of the jet diver was a 5" flasher followed by a cast master lure with garlic scented power bait on it.
We trolled and I had the Deeper mounted on the bendable arm on the side of the boat. The boat was tiny and we had 3 rods out. On the first day when I called out "the fish finder says there is a bunch under us right now" sure enough, we got hits on all 3 rods the same time. That kept going that way for the next 2 days. We had 16 trout on Saturday and let most of them go, 8 on Sunday, and we actually did not plan to go on Monday but reversed plans and started at 7am on the lake and got 26 trout in 5 hours. It was not boring fishing at all. We released most, and the 2 small ones we tried to release but ended up not recovering were scooped up by a bald eagle. With the second one, I knew the eagle would come, so I got a good picture of him grabbing the fish out of the water just a few feet behind our little boat.
Success in fishing is a combination the right setup and knowing where the fish are. We were lucky this last weekend with the setup and the fish finder told us the rest.
Lastly, the negative.... the Deeper PRO+ gave up on us on all days after about 3 hours. Message on the phone was "reconnecting". We tried everything such as rebooting the phone and keeping the Deeper out of the water for a bit so it would turn off and then trying to resume - but to no avail. On all 3 days, the Deeper did not last longer than 3 hours. It was a small lake, so it did not matter at the end as we knew where we have to go, but it adds a bit of excitement to see the potential of a hit coming in.
In my amateur opinion, maybe the PRO+ as it uses WIFI uses more battery. As I had it mounted right next to the boat on the bendable arm, I may have been better off with the Bluetooth only version - if the WIFI was the cause of the battery weakness. But too late now as I already got the WIFI one.

I bought this Deeper Pro+ mostly because I wanted something portable to carry on my inflatable Intex kayak in the summer. I like to hike in the woods to find perfect quite locations and this fish finder will not add any kind of weight to my backpack.
For ice fishing it works great. The flasheris accurate, as long as the Deeper is attached to some sort of branch to avoid the shaking above the water. A bit confusing to read at first but by simply watching a 3 minutes Youtube How To Read Fish flasher video I understood.
Look at the video I posted on the review (it only shows the graph, I cannot get the flasher on my history)
-The thin yellow line you see bouncing on the bottom is my lure (mini trout magnet)
-The orange at the bottom is the floor, and the green is an indication of weed.
-You suddenly see a thicker yellow line swimming next my lure. Thats a small pike. He comes from the bottom, goes back down and comes back and bites my lures. I quickly real it back (pictures of the small pike attached to review)
My only complaint, like other reviews mention on here, is the battery life. Especially while using for ice fishing the battery drains rather fast. My iPhone X usually last about 4 hours while using the “Fish Deeper” app. The Deeper lasts for 4.5h (more or less). Make sure to carry a portable back-up battery with the proper cables if you’re planning to fish all day, you will definitely need it. The colder it is on the ice the faster the battery drains.
Still, considering the price and the portability this is an amazing fish finder. Just keep in mind that once you use a fish finder you will most likely never fish without it, it truly makes you catch more fish and becomes addictive. It adds an electronic element to the nature of fishing, which doesn't make things as natural, meditating and satisfying when catching the big ones. But if you dont give a f$&k about relaxing and just wanna catch fish this is a must!

Easy to use and excellent for plotting out the lake/river bed in front of you, finding features you would have struggled to find using a bare lead. Yes it's limited by its castability for far distances but can be attached to bait boat/ rowing boat if you want to explore far distant horizons.
So far the fish finding has been good, you may need to turn the sensitivity down in murky water. I also like the fact you can display "raw" data or interpolated. The manual will show you the differences in what each setting can achieve. Plots can be uploaded to a central cloud data bank enabling you to do many fancy things with the data from your lake/river. I particularly like the ruler function which gives distances to features/areas from the bank. The GPS is remarkably accurate, although it does occasionally wander off a bit, but nothing of any major concern..we are talking a few metres here....
Overall very happy with this.
