Why do you need TOPSOLAR Battery Maintainer Trickle Charger

  • Modern vehicles have more than 30 body control modules, alarm systems, anti-theft, and lock monitoring. All of these devices consume battery power. The power consumption of these modules is very small, but if the vehicle is not used or rarely used for a week or two, the battery will discharge until it runs out.
  • If you don't keep charging, the battery life will be shortened. Sulfation is most likely to occur if the 12-volt battery voltage is not properly maintained above 12.4 volts. Why does my multimeter fail to detect any voltage when the "Normal Working indicator" is lit normally, under no load and sunlight?

  • This is normal. Our solar panels are brand new products sent from the factory. When delivered to consumers, the solar panels are still in an inactive state. When consumers use it for the first time, they need to connect the load to activate, and then use a multimeter to measure the voltage that can be read.

I like the charging and quality, but the White panel from the same company is flexible where u can mount it to uneven surfaces, but this Black one is stiff and not flexible! I'm gonna send this one back and get the flexible White panel!I'm using 2 panels for my dual battery ford super duty because one panel is not enough. Can use one panel for 2 batteries but they can't be connected to the vehicle as the vehicle draws power for computers and such. I keep mine connected and so far, 12.45 volts. I'll update later on how long, if the batteries loose their juice while hooked up to these panels.Update 5/4/2021Black panel stopped charging, dead. White panel keeps on charging. The whining noise us good, tells u that it's charging. I'm returning the black one and I'm ordering the white panel.NOTE: The images that show volts and amps are from 1 white panel only that's charging 2 batteries over the course of 1 week.

I use this for the car that I keep parked on the street and drive rarely. The key thing was to be sure that the 12v connection (or cigarette lighter if you're as old as I am) stays constantly on. That way, you put the panel in the window and plug into the lighter socket to charge. If the lighter socket turns off when the car is off, it won't charge. There needs to be a constant connection to battery. Doesn't take much space. Comes with suction cups but I use a sunscreen and just put the panel between the window and screen. Great purchase to keep the battery charged. I use it in my 2008 Mercedes Benz cls63 amg but I purchased it also for use in my 2006 f250 truck (which has 2 batteries) as needed.

I currently use this to charge a Miady 12.8V LFP6AH LiFePo4 battery that , with a 12 to 5 Volt converter, powers a remote Wyze WiFi camera in my back yard. It works well for that. I no longer have to change out batteries every two days. The only meter test I did was when I first got this thing. It was early morning, overcast, with indirect sunlight. Open circuit was 14.7 Volts and short circuit was about 300 ma. I was surprised it was that good with the minimal light available. This panel is very thin and light weight, maybe as thick as 15 or 20 sheets of paper. You will want to secure it in place so that the wind does not get it.
Would I recommend this? That depends on what a person is looking for in a solar charger. I will say that I placed an order for a second one of these today. Good performance for the $.

I got the white backed one, to keep my 4wheeler battery charged directly connected to battery. So now on with it:
I've been using it for a few months now no problems starting my 4 wheeler even if it sets unstarter for a few weeks. Before I've had to have a plug in battery tender connected or kill the battery. (I believe the winch controller has a parisitic draw) 2 or 3 batteries in 2 years 😠 so now I don't have to run a ext.cord and battery tender to save them. Now I just need a quick removable mount for the 4 wheeler to hold the panel. It's low cost especially if the battery last, light weight a blessing and curse if windy, I've wired it to the roof of one of my Jeeps. Now to get a few more for my other vehicles batteries maybe higher output though for trolling motor batteries for almost free recharge. But no running Extension cords.

I bought this a while ago for an aging 51R AAA maintenance free battery. I can't tell the date code but the battery is at least 5 years old. After sitting overnight.....I noticed it cranked a bit slower. It never failed to start on the 1st try......just a slow crank.

We just had a snow storm and it was the perfect chance to try it out. My starting voltage was 11.8/11.9 volts measured at the cigarette ligher. After a few hours of charging, my ending voltage was 12.2 which is not bad.

My vehicle's cigarette lighter doesn't work if the car is off. I initially planned to run a wire from the cabin to the battery....but decided to scrap it at the last minute. Instead, I modified the wiring to the CL so that it is always on.

In the winter sun, I measured 1A of current during the bulk and it dropped to 80mA during the trickle.

So far it works as advertised and I'm glad I purchased it. I only wished it came with Anderson or SAE connections.

Because of rising crime in my town I decided to buy some wireless cameras. I had some battery operated cameras that only recorded when it sensed movement. My car battery has been verified as being good by AAA roadside assistance. I purchased this product since I have to leave my car for over two weeks at the airport between work trips to Southern CA and many of the devices in the car drain the battery within this timeframe. During this time the car is outside in the sunshine with plenty of solar exposure to keep this from happening with the right product. I used the supplied cigarette adapter to charge the battery but when I returned in two weeks my battery was completely drained. This product is suppose to have built in circuitry to prevent overcharging as well as discharge during night time when the panel has no charge. I would not recommend purchasing this product. It did not work.
