Wow what a wonderful, short action-packed short story. I will definitely read the other books that I have already purchased out on my kindle sooner that I thought because I really enjoyed Violet and Alex's story. This is a short quick read and while I would have liked more it definitely packed a punch in the short number of pages. Violet and Alex have a one-night stand that can lead to disastrous consequences for both of them. Violet has just started working for the bar Alex owns with his two brothers. They purchased the bar a decade ago with from their parents. Read this book it is a good read.

Violet and Alex have a one night stand that can lead to disastrous consequences for both of them. Violet has just started working for the bar Alex owns with his 2 brothers. Alex has had a hard time recovering from his divorce and has not been interested in a woman for over a year. When Alex wakes up and discovers he had a one night stand he is intrigued. When he discovers it is Violet, he is more than cautious but wants to see where it will go. Violet does not have a good track record in picking out a man so she is more than leery in getting involved with Alex. They have a bit of a standoff where she lets it be known that she is not looking for a relationship and Alex wants to give it a try. It was interesting how his brother, Duncan, forces them to get some of their issues out. I did like the ending, but would have like a little more.

Even for a novella, I had a hard time connecting to Alex and Violet, or feeling anything past some hot scenes between the two of them. Third person POV isn't my favorite, so this could have been a factor.

**Spoiler alert**

It rubbed me the wrong way that he didn't remember their initial night together, then to find out he was black out drunk was even worse. This just wasn't a story for me.

This was my first Kylie Scott book and I can honestly say after reading Heart's a Mess I want to read more of her books.

This is a short quick read and while I would have liked more it definitely packed a punch in the short amount of pages. It's very hot year there's also some humor as well as a little seriousness mixed in but mostly just hot.

I really enjoyed this but I wish we were going to get more. I would love more of Violet and Alex's story but I would also like to know his brothers more. They provided the comic relief in this book.

I usually don't enjoy short stories but there was no way I could resist a Kylie Scott book! I would consider this one a little bit longer though. There was plenty of time for main and secondary character development. The characters would actually be great for a series. I also really enjoyed the H & h. Violet is a very relatable girl and I love her sense of style.

God I love this short story. I loved it when I first read it on Wattpad, and then I loved it some more when I'd purchased it on Amazon and read it for the second time on my Kindle. Third read around, and my love for Violet and Alex's story has only continued to grow. Thinking about it, this is kind of like a Cinderella story; a very quick, very sweet yet very sexy and hilarious Cinderella story, one with a HFN ending that's now left me wanting more. Boss and employee is what Alex and Violet are, but Violet soon fears that she may have lost her job when - after her first day at work - she has a one night stand with her boss Alex, but it's a one night stand he can't remember. Thankful for that, she plans to keep their escapade quiet and officially leave her past in the past and forget it ever happened, but with her bra still in Alex's grasp, HE will stop at nothing until he finds the mystery girl who's finally gotten him over his ex-wife.

There's never a dull moment in this short story, and from start to finish I was kept entertained by the originality to the storyline, the humour that's a constant throughout the story, and especially the humour and banter between Alex and his two brothers - brothers who I'm now hoping and praying (though it's unlikely) will be getting stories of their own. I do wish this could've been a full length novel, mainly because I loved this short story so much that I didn't want it to be just 61 pages long, but with what Kylie Scott managed to fit in all those 61 pages? I can't complain; she gave me a story that was to the point, very entertaining, with some very sexy scenes and a whole lot of laughter, and if that's the kind of story you're currently looking for, then Heart's a Mess is the one for you.
