Within that universe, I have yet to find a collection of pots that work better for me than what the Meyer Corporation -- which now owns Farberware -- includes in its "classic stainless steel" collection. I love the simple, straightforward functionality, the durability, the straining lid, the heat resistant handles, and that the pots are both oven safe and dishwasher safe. Needless to say, the stainless steel plays a central role as well. As the description indicates, a protective layer of stainless steel surrounds the thicker aluminum core. That improves heat distribution.
This particular size -- the 1-quart -- is perfect if you're, say, steaming veggies or whipping up soup for one or two people, making a roux, melting butter, or boiling water.
The only reason that I didn't give this product five stars is because I find it difficult to keep the outside "tush" of my Farberware pots as pristine as I would like.
Note: if it's important to you to support American manufacturing, you may consider Farberware to be a mixed bag. The company originated in 1900 on the lower east side of New York (http://www.farberwarecookware.com/discover-farberware/our-heritage.html). For at least 30 years, however, it has been owned by a Hong Kong-based company, Meyer Corporation. (Mei-yah means "beautiful Asia" in Chinese.) The parent company is still located there, although distribution moved to Vallejo, California in 1992 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meyer_Corporation).

I used it to heat the juice and geletin to make gummy bears and had no issues.
Worked perfectly on my induction burner
The lid has strainers on two sides so you can line them up with either pour spout. Will be great for small amounts of pasta. Each side has different sized holes to strain through and the holes are in the lid so whether you are left or right handed it doesn’t matter. Just line up the size of holes you want with whichever pour spout you prefer to use.
Will be ideal for sauces and gravy for one or two people.
I popped it in the dishwasher and it came out perfectly cleaned.
The pan is a good weight but not too heavy and nicely balanced
Very pleased
