I had bought this bottle to irrigate and rinse my sinuses. It does the job!
Reviewed in the United States on October 15, 2011
I'd never heard of a perineal irrigation bottle until I was given one in hospital, years ago, after surgery. Since that day I cannot imagine living without one per person per bathroom. It's incomparably cleaner and simpler than wiping human skin with dry paper, no matter whether passing water or solids, but especially if a little (naturally-gritty) excrement is on my skin! How is wiping that gritty excrement onto my skin with dry paper, going to "clean" me? Eeek! What an odd behavior, and most of us think of it as "normal." But sanitary? Not so much.

If I had budget for a bidet, I would install one in a heartbeat. But lucky for me, I don't need that major budget, since a perineal irrigation bottle fills the same need more simply, portably, and cost-effectively.

Fill the bottle with tap water, squirt water onto the appropriate area, then blot with a soft clean tissue. So simple. So sanitary.

PS - Took one to my most recent hospital stay, and it's a good thing; UCSF does not provide one for patients! And after surgery, my reach was ...er, abbreviated, by arm pain, and I definitely can squirt farther than I can "reach."

Delivery by this vendor was quick, low-cost and painless. Excellent product, excellent service. Both highly recommended.

...as in "shampoo", not...ahem. Anyway, I bought these to try to go shampoo free ("no 'poo") using baking soda & water for washing, and apple cider vinegar for rinsing. These 8 oz bottles hold the exact right amount for a single wash/rinse. They are a somewhat squishy plastic (not very rigid, but just enough so it stands up; perfectly squeezable), with a little pull-up top with 4 little holes in it. The 4 holes are great for this purpose because you can actually get enough pressure going to reach your scalp and cover your entire head without water simply pouring out and dribbling down all over you. Yes, I like these bottles. They are (so far) perfect for what I bought them for. They don't seem to leak from the collar or top when they are closed. They are small enough that I can fit two in my little shower wall cut-out, or on the shower rack hanging from the shower head.

If you want to try no 'poo, mix about a Tablespoon of baking soda in 8 oz water. (I just fill it up the night before and shake to mix). I might try adding a few drops of lavender or tea tree essential oil to this. Cover your scalp and hair with the mixture after you wet it (use it all) and let sit while you wash, then rinse out. Rinse hair with a Tablespoon apple cider vinegar and 8 oz water from a second bottle (make sure you shake to mix), then rinse with water. (You WILL smell like vinegar until your hair dries.) Supposedly you need to do this avery 2-3 days (not daily), and give it a good 8-12 weeks before your scalp & hair normalize (up to this point, I read it can be QUITE an adjustment and hard to stick it out! Don't give up!) I have the acv in a glass bottle with a stopper and the baking soda is in a jar with a sealed top (like the old jelly jar with the rubber gaskets) and I keep them on my bathroom counter to mix every night. I'm new to this but read good things about it online, so I hope it will work for me. If not (we have very hard water, and I read it doesn't always work with hard water) I will probably use the bottles for some other homemade concoction. I can't say I will ever use them for their actual intended purpose, but I think, based on their design and functionality, they would work perfectly for --well, you know. Exactly what they are advertised for.

I have constant allergy problems when eliminating due to foods that I have grown sensitive to, and it is almost like the spices go through and irritate my bottom. One of these is Mexican food! Spicy foods or peppers can actually burn me when I eliminate at times. I now use one of these to rinse after all eliminations, and I feel fresher, and I have gotten rid of my senstivity and allergy reactions to spicy foods. I was actually getting rashes on my bottom. I think as you get older some people have this problem, but I have managed to get rid of the sensitivity problems by rinsing with these bottles. I use wipes, then just squirt in the right direction with one of these bottles, and they literally wash your bottom! It has holes in the top that are just the right size to make the bottle squirt in the right places, and so you really get a stream of water that thoroughly washes your bottom, or for that matter, any other elimination areas. These really work, and once you get used to them, you won't ever want to be without one again. Shipping was super quick and I got these in no time! Thank you so much!

I love this bottle because it is so perfectly designed.

First, it's transparent so you can see how much water is in it.

Second, the 4 little holes in the spout give you so much pressure, you use much less water than you expect. Before I bought this, I was using about 16 ounces of water out of a drinking glass yet felt less clean! (I thought this Medline was too small before I used it, but I can get 2 - 3 good uses out of one filled little 8 oz bottle!)

Third, it is not angled like the Blue Bidet so you don't have to aim specifically for those middle of the night bathroom runs.

Fourth, it has no annoying "breather" hole on the bottom like the Blue Bidet.

Fifth, the spout closes securely and you can easily take this nifty device anywhere.

Sixth, it has a generic look, so instead of the Blue Bidet which is multicolored and has an angled spout, this bottle will not draw attention or curious looks. As you can see from the other reviews, people have found various uses for them. Heck, get one for each room in the house!

Purchased this bottle to use after surgery. It’s smaller then I would have liked. As advertised so may want to find one that’s 12-16 oz.
