Remember WEN?
We've been designing and distributing high-quality and affordable power tools for decades. Founded by Nick Anton back in 1951, WEN originally made its mark by helping bring tools and electricity together (putting the power into power tools). Our research and development team played a vital role in helping to develop a variety of common everyday tools such as the chainsaw, the electric soldering gun, the electric jigsaw, the electric engraver, and the knife and wet wheel sharpeners. WEN even pioneered random orbital technology – the technology seen in most polishers, waxers, and buffers today that gives cars everywhere the streak-free shine they deserve.
Since then, our expertise has expanded to encompass a wide variety of products, including drill presses, lathes, bench grinders, nailers, miter saws, hand tools, generators, and cordless power tools, to name a few. By 2001, only 50 years after our humble beginnings, we had already sold over 50 million consumer units. By 2021, we had sold nearly 80 million. Today, WEN's headquarters can be found in West Dundee, Illinois. Our goal is to help woodworkers, DIYers, and artisans across the world execute their wildest imaginations.

Product Description
Remember when you had maximum versatility with your wood lathe? Take on projects of all shapes and sizes with the WEN 3.75-Inch 4-Jaw Self-Centering Keyed Scroll Chuck. This versatile chuck features dovetailed jaws, allowing you to grip the outside of stock between 1-1/4 to 2-1/2 inches in size, or to hold internal pilot holes ranging from 1-3/4 to 3-1/8 inches in diameter. The keyed tightening mechanism prevents the chuck from opening during high RPM operation, providing maximum clamping power to your workpiece. If that’s not enough, you can also install the included screw depending on the task at hand. Indexed backplate indicates 24 different positions while the included tools make for easy adjustments to the chuck. The 1” x 8TPI mounting thread fits a wide variety of wood lathes, including the WEN 3420, 3420T, 3421, 3424, 3424T, 34018, 3427, 34018, 34027 and 34034. NOTE: max recommended workpiece size for 3420, 3420T, and 3421 is 4 inches.

There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later.
It does not have a locking mechanism to hold it on the lathe in the reverse operation. It will off onto the floor - that was scary! The back has a cover plate to keep the dust out of the internal gears which is nice.
It does not have indexing marks on the back or side like the new version. I believe this one is in fact a PSI Barracuda based on the laser engraving located on the inside under the back plate.
I'm in Florida so the humidity is bad for al tools so it does have some slight discoloration (rust) on the outside but it does not affect it function. I am very happy with this purchase. I will do a review with photos of the new version I purchased and received last week. It has a few additional features.
Would I buy it again, yes!
