Temperatures above or below normal room temperature will shorten battery life. Never store the lawn mower with the battery in a discharged condition. If you store your lawn mower for long periods of time without using it, recharge the battery every 6 months. This will extend battery life.

UPDATE 02/27/24: I was looking at my old reviews and wanted to give this review an update after having it for years. First off, I still have it and still use it as my main lawnmower and still love it. Secondly, a few things do need to be addressed. This comes with no side chute to spew the clippings, just a bag on the back which is TERRIBLE unless you have a yard the size of a bedroom. Almost every row I did it would fill up and need to be taken off to be dumped. When I got this a few years ago it took me about a month to find a side chute to order from Home Depot for $20, but dear god was it worth it! They might have them on Amazon now but they didn’t back then. Since putting it on I’ve never gone back to the tiny collection bag. Another somewhat issue which I’m not docking any stars for since I assumed this before even purchasing it from it being a small electric mower is it does not do great in thick spots. Too thick it cuts off, but usually it will just suddenly kick into high gear sounding like it’s about to take off into the sky. When I go into this denser area in my yard that is maybe 8ftx15ft and it goes into this high gear mode spinning at least twice as fast I just quickly go through this spot and it cuts it fast and clean. I don’t know if there are long term problems to staying in this mode but as soon as I’m done with that area I let off the handle and just restart it so it’s back to normal mode and to this day still do this and it works great. I have learned, however, that this high gear mode drains the battery hard! Save it for hard spots and do it fast. Being somewhat weak it also does fine going over little twigs but anything bigger than that will trigger high gear mode. This mower is perfect for me but take all of this into consideration before buying. One thing I really do wish for this mower was for it to be a few inches wider as it is very narrow. I got it on sale on here for $100 and it was money very well spent.
It's very light, easy to manuever and easy to put together. It charged within 5 hours and the charge was plenty enough to do the entire lawn consisting of knee high dandelions and other weeds. I had to do some back and forth cause of the weeds, but it cut thru consistently and quietly. A++ Get you a SunJoe.
very quiet!
Light weight and easy to maneuver (can be moved one handed with ease).
It comes with a grass catcher (off-shoot type attachment sold separate).
Perfect for small yard or moving around objects (rose bushes and the like).
Cons:
Not for a large yard, shortish battery life.
The grass catcher needs emptying frequently.
I love this little mower. My yard had not been mowed in over 3 months, and it cut the grass like a champ. The battery finally died (needed recharge) when I was halfway through with the drive way section. All in all, I’m impressed!
I prefer the little grass catcher because in my neighborhood the houses are relatively close and it would be considered rude/strange/odd to not have a mower that catches the grass. That being said, it does need to be emptied frequently - take that with a grain of salt though! As my grass was VERY over grown. I think I could do much more without stopping now that I will be mowing every 1-2 weeks.
The lawn mower comes with the charger and safety key. I added a photo of the mower charging for anyone who wants to see. As well as photos of how it is packaged, out of the package, assembled, and a photo of the mower with the handle bars folded a bit for storage. The handles do not fold more than in the photo (meaning they don’t go completely flush).
The engine is surprisingly quiet, but it will rev up when working hard - if this happens, simply shut it off for a second and give it a break. Or it WILL SHUT OFF on its own, but restart with a second. I think it’s best not to over work it, for the longivety of the mower. Only had it shut off on me once.

September 13th, 2018, replacement arrived.
Worked for 23 minutes with battery to spare (under 30%). Did the back and front yard, minus a small strip. charged in under 4 hours, (5 hour is the charge limit for the XR models). Tried again to mow. Mowed in the morning for 10 minutes and the machine was strong and had over 60% charge left. I'm charging now for the next cut. I'm very satisfied on the quality and enjoy a pleasurable mowing experience.
The only con, is having to carry the lawnmower around to an outlet to charge. The battery is part of the lawn mower. I guess this was to save money and the charger is a bit flimsy, but, I'm going to give it 5 stars for the overall level of satisfaction.
October 5, 2019, The mower is getting better battery life!!!. I can mow the front and back in less than 30% charge used. The mower is powerful. It never stalled once, where even, our old gas mower stuttered - no joke. It is so light, that mowing is simple, no annoying gas fumes or electric cords falling out. Once you get use to this mower, you'll wonder why everyone doesn't have one. I think the first mower I received, had a bad charger. No problems for over a year now and the battery appears to be lasting longer (mower doesn't go full throttle unless it has to - and if you turn off and on, the mower slows rpms, again).
1. The charger will not automatically stop charging when the battery is full (though it will indicate that it's charged). So it's likely that I'll over-charge and damage it, someday.
2. The battery isn't removable, so charging it necessitates parking the whole mower near an outlet. It would be better if it worked like my cordless drill.
3. The battery is not replaceable. When the battery degrades, you'll have to throw the whole mower out.
Point 1 means that it will be hard to avoid misusing the battery. And therefore the battery might not last long. Point 3 means that when that happens, I'll have to replace the whole mower.
Some of the battery related negative reviews here and on the US site might be because of lemons, or maybe the above scenario.
But so far, I'm very pleased with this product. I have so far charged the battery once, before first use, as per instruction manual. I have mowed my 10x10 metre lawn maybe five times (I don't use the grass collection bag, FWIW), and it has been very pleasant. I now still have more than 30% of charge remaining.
If the battery were replaceable, I would give this a five star rating based on my experiences, so far. I'm deducting one star because of point 3. And if I have significant battery charge issues within the first two years, I'll adjust my rating further.
