About this item
- CEREMONIAL GRADE QUALITY - This is the highest grade matcha tea available. Only the youngest, greenest, and most delicate leaves are chosen to enhance the natural sweetness of the tea. There is no bitterness and no traces of stems or leaves— just light, soft tea powder that froths easily.
- DELICIOUS COFFEE ALTERNATIVE - Matcha tea contains roughly 25-35mg of caffeine per half teaspoon, but won’t make you jittery or cause an afternoon coffee crash. Matcha green tea also contains L-Theanine, an important amino acid, as well as vital antioxidants. In fact, it contains 137 times the antioxidants of regular green tea.
- GUARANTEED FRESH - Our premium matcha tea is ordered in small batches and ground fresh to order. This means it is fresher than what’s sold in stores, and freshness means brilliant color, intoxicating aroma, and less bitterness. All orders are packed in airtight containers to ensure freshness.
- AUTHENTIC JAPANESE ORIGIN- Our organic matcha tea is shade grown in the Nishio region of Japan by matcha tea experts. The special climate of Nishio produces the highest quality natural matcha tea. It is harvested during the first harvest in early May.
- CERTIFIED USDA ORGANIC - Our Japanese matcha tea is raised, harvested, and processed without the use of harmful pesticides or inorganic fertilizers and is non GMO and gluten free. It is hand picked and stone ground on granite mills. We also safety test for heavy metals and perform radiation testing every month.

Product Description
Quality without Compromise
At Kenko Tea, we’re obsessed with matcha! It’s our sole focus.
We spend all our time perfecting the art needed to bring this green elixir to life.
Kenko matcha is shade-grown to boost the chlorophyll & antioxidant content, stripped of veins & stems to reduce bitterness, and stone-ground to achieve a fine consistency. The result? Incredibly nutritious and tasty matcha your body will love.
Authentic Japanese Origin
There’s only one place on the planet that produces the finest matcha – where weather and altitude combine to create tea leaves bursting with wholesomeness: Japan.
And that’s where all our matcha comes from.
We source high-grade matcha from the special Nishio region in Japan, where dedicated farmers selectively handpick young leaves after 3-4 weeks of growing in the shade. Don’t settle for less.

The star of the show is the tremendous energy lift I get for about 5 to 6 hours. This is the first Matcha that has given me the type of natural energy lift. Sometimes I combine this with a small Starbucks black ice coffee and I'm ready to be alert the whole day.
It's also a very good pre-workout drink combined with L-carnitine for sustained cardio endurance. I've been ordering it once a week. Ippodo is still my go-to brand because I don't get mental calmness and focus with this brand just the energy and I'm ok with that.
I HIGHLY recommend if you're looking for a high quality Matcha to supply you with natural clean energy.
The package is 100g and states that there are 50 servings per bag. I haven't measured the exact number of cups of tea I've gotten out of a bag, but I've found that a 1/4 teaspoon makes a large, strong mug of green tea. I'm very pleased with the multiple organic certifications Kenko Tea has. On top of this, I'm even more pleased by the other certifications. The package is flat and very compact, making easy to store until you're ready to use it. As soon as I opened the bag, I knew this was going to be great tea. The matcha powder has rich, earthy scent to it, which matches perfectly with the pale green of the powder. This color is intense and can easily be used as food coloring like saffron, possibly even as a dye or natural pigment. The taste is smooth and mild, there is no bitterness or grassiness at all. The difference is between real Japanese matcha powder and commercially mass produced green tea, is like the difference between night and day. This may be cooking grade, but the tea is anything but a cheap cooking additive. Once you drink this, you won't want anything else.
This is high grade tea and is on the expensive side. The quality worth every penny, though. I try to brew a pot of this for myself and my father every day. This is one of the few products I've brought where I could see the health benefits right in front of my eyes. Drinking this reminds me of Quentin Tarantino's line in Pulp Fiction, about buying good coffee to taste it. This couldn't apply more here. You don't need milk, sugar, or anything else to drink this, its perfect as it is. Don't cheap out, buy this and you won't be disappointed.
Jade Leaf arrived with a sealed bag of powder tea inside the tin. You simply cut the bag open then pour tea inside the tin. I think they took extra precaution for freshness by double packing. Kenko arrived with the tea loose inside the tin. It was not double packed. It didn’t affect the taste or freshness at all. Jade Leaf sent me follow up emails asking if everything arrived ok and if I was enjoying the tea. They also sent me coupons for future purchases. Nice touch. I like it when suppliers take the time to do this. Kenko sent me an email asking if all was good but they did not offer any future purchase coupons.
All in all I like them both. If I had to buy just one next time I might go with Kenko because I prefer the slightly sweeter taste. I would recommend buying both as I did and do your own taste test comparison. These are two very best Matcha teas on the market and I wouldn’t bother with any other brands. Both of these teas are created in the highest strictest manner with emphasis on quality and taste. They also buy from small family farms which I like. I was not paid for this endorsement not did I receive any incentives from suppliers for writing this review.
