Glad Food Storage 2 in 1 Zipper Bags multitask to keep you food fresh in the refrigerator and in the freezer. Food can be stored in the refrigerator, and then placed right into the freezer without being transferred to another bag and without losing its freshness. Bags are made of pliable plastic which helps minimize food contact with air keeping food fresh longer and protected from freezer burn. To preserve freshness, squeeze all air out of bag before sealing. To safely defrost foods, place frozen food in Glad bags on a plate in the refrigerator. Do not defrost on the countertop. When microwaving, open zipper about an inch (2 or 3 centimeter) to vent and place bag on a plate. Caution: Handle hot bags with care.

during a sale around $3/46 shipped these quart glad's became as cheap as the Boulder Twin Lock at Aldi's which do a poor job holding a seal. I stopped buying ziploc sales at Costco when they changed the opening to plastic zipper or oversize tab as these interfere with my ability to suck the air out of the bag with a bubble tea straw. I like how glad simplifies the storage:freezer marketing nonsense into a single hybrid product. I hope to catch more good sales on Amazon so i can buy glad's similar design sandwich and gallon size bags too.

I use these bags for so many things - foods that are solid, liquid or in between. They hold up well, over long periods of time in the freezer. They are also a really good size as they are somewhat larger than the average sandwich bag. I use them for many things - not just food, as they are stronger than most sandwich bags. I also like the white strip across the front of the bag which enable me to label what is in the bag, the date, the place I purchased it, the weight of what is there (especially if it is food) and if I want, even what I paid for it (so I can track pricing). I purchase them on Subscribe and Save and they are a regular fixture in my food storage panty.

I like the versatility of one box to grab a bag from for whatever my needs are, whether storage or freezer. My 4 star is due to the thinness of the plastic causing me to be a bit unsettled for freezer use. We have had so many experiences of freezer burn on foods frozen in plastic bags with the thicker plastic, that I cannot see any improvement from a thinner plastic. Time will tell. My concern is that the plastic is the same thickness as previous non-freezer storage bags, so I feel that they just switched claims that those are freezer safe too, as I'm sure many people froze items in their non-freezer storage bags a lot before. We just had problems with that.

But, still nice bags and the convenience for now is nice.

I tried these for the first time because you can use them for either storage OR freezer bags! Love that. I usually have to buy two different products for those specific uses. They are so sturdy that, if not used for chicken or some meats, I clean and rinse them and just re-use. I do that to recycle when I can, and of course, it saves money, too. I use these for so many things, I wouldn't be able to list them all. Put a cut onion in one and pop it into the fridge, and no smell worries. Buy a huge bag of snacks and portion them out in these, and they stay fresh and you save money. Buy large packages of meat and portion then in these before you freeze them, and it makes for easier thawing, with NO separating them. Freeze cream in ice cube trays, then dump the cubes in a freezer baggie, and you have pre-measured cream for that next recipe. Yea!!
