45226 Carbide Tipped Straight Plunge High Production Router Bit
Use a two-flute bit where fine finish is paramount. Two flutes balance the bit, eliminating vibration that degrades the cut finish. Two cuts per revolution yield a smooth surface, but feed rate is slightly reduced.
AMAX Extended Life Features:
- 200% longer life time even when working with abrasive materials.
- Superior geometric design.
- Advanced grinding technology that improves the carbides' resistance to wear.
- Super clean cuts.

From the Manufacturer
Since 1972, Amana Tool has been producing router bits and has become the global leader in its field. In fact, the company was the first manufacturer to produce router bits according to the Holz BG German standard for safety and quality. This standard contains rules that determine the structure and quality of the tool's material in order to create the safest environment for the user. From its beginning, Amana Tool has always used the highest quality materials, and its tools are produced using unique technologies, a majority of which were developed and built by the company's engineers following decades of testing and experience. For example, Amana Tool uses carbon alloy steel for its router bits that contains vanadium particles. This improves the structural integrity of the steel and prevents corrosion and defects in the internal structure of the material that can lead to cracks and breaks. High-tech machinery processes the carbon alloy steel to manufacture the router bodies in a single clamping. This yields router bits with superior balance, centricity, precision and symmetry. The New Generation of Straight Bit Technology! Use a two-flute bit where fine finish is paramount. Two flutes balance the bit, eliminating vibration that degrades the cut finish. Two cuts per revolution yield a smooth surface.

Didn't give it a 1 star because it is sharp and will likely produce some very nice dados and rabbets. Guess I will keep shopping, finished this project with a 1/2" spiral.
EDIT (6/12/2010) - OK, my initial review was mostly based on it being advertised as a plunge bit and it obviously was not. Still docking 'em a star for that one.
In all other aspects though, it has been a 5 star performer. It is now my "go to" for small rabbetting and dado's. Mostly in plywood and MDF to boot. Has kept a decent edge through that junk mixed into those stocks these days. I have yet to figure out what "in spec" means when it comes to router bits. I suspect it is something like nominal +.000 -some number. This calipered out at .7485, which is glue line territory and more than close enough for me.

Considering that it's a little cheaper too, you can't go wrong. All in all, highly recommended.
