Quick, Easy and Quiet.

Excellent switch. I have very limited I.T./networking experience but found this easy to install and configure; using it at home. Once the ubiquiti software is installed, the process was straightforward and quick. The recognition of the network and AP's took a few minutes so have a bit of patience during setup. I will say that I spent some time before ordering on various sites and blogs to better understand how to install and configure, suggest you do the same if you are unfamiliar with them. The AP's worked seamlessly and all other network appliances configured quickly. Using this with a Comcast gateway (wifi turned off) for what it is worth. Switch is quiet, with the fans just slightly audible from a few feet away. All in all, a winner!

Coming from a cisco background, I had been hesitant to give Ubiquiti a chance. But.. I when I decided it was time to upgrade my home network I took the plunge and went with an entire Ubiquiti build. Unifi Security Gateway, Unifi Switch, Unifi Access points. I will never again waste money on Cisco products and plan to begin phasing them out in the workplace in exchange for Ubiquiti products.

This is a fantastic, well built product. Setup and Installation is straight forward, the management software gives users potentially infinite control over your network. The switch is geared towards integration with other ubiquiti products such as cameras, routers and the security gateway systems. This will function as a basic switch in its own right - but buyers may find that certain features will not work without other ubiquiti products. Only downside is that the cooling fans are quite loud. POE is fantastic

The Ubiquiti line of products is catered for an advanced home network or small business. There's definitely some really good arguments on why this line is useful, however, I find that this managed PoE switch is not worth it mainly because of its price and very short warrantee (compared to other advanced home network products).

I've used it for 2 years and it failed. I worked with support and they basically tell you to reset the switch to factory. I reset to factory and sure enough the same issue where 8 ports just stopped working, I get PoE but no data goes through. Unlike other manufacturers where lifetime warranty is common, paying such a premium price without a decent (4-5 yr) warrantee is not acceptable.

You can argue their AP product or their USG product has great features, but I don't recommend buying their PoE managed switches. Either go with the C* (the big behemoth) switches that large companies use or just buy a decent home managed switch from any other manufacturer that has a decent warrantee (many are lifetime).
