Product Description
Help your baby sleep better SAFELY
SnoozeShade for Pack'n'Plays is like a sleep tent for your baby's playard and is ideal for when you share a room with baby. Use it day or night, it's perfect for trips away from home, camping, vacation or during bright summer months (many Alaskan parents have found it particularly useful!). It also gives protection from mosquitos and cats.
Adjust darkness levels to suit your baby by using the side panels that can be raised or lowered. Or you can open or close the zippable top flap (which can be stored in the integrated pocket).
Other playard covers are available, but none of them are as safe as SnoozeShade. Your baby's safety is at the forefront of our design and Cara has gone to extra lengths and cost to ensure her products are as safe as they can possibly be.
This is the question we get asked the most...
It takes seconds to install
SnoozeShade for Pack'n'Plays is so easy to use. There are no poles to connect or any complicated attachments. Simply throw it over the top of the playard, pack n play or mini crib - pull down around the sides and attach the bottom stretchable straps securely around the playard's feet.
You're done! It weighs just 2lb and easily fits in a carry on.
Recommended by the USA's top baby sleep consultants
SnoozeShade was invented by a parent just like you!
The first SnoozeShade (for strollers) was invented by British mom Cara Sayer when she became frustrated with throwing a blanket over her daughter's stroller. She couldn't find anything that helped her little one sleep when they were out.
In 2010, she invented SnoozeShade Original for her baby's bassinet and this grew into a range of baby sun and sleep shades for the infant car seat, stroller and pack'n'plays, mini cribs and travel cribs.
Invented by a mum with safety at the heart of design
Is it 100% blackout?
We are often asked if it's completely blackout - the answer is no. It wouldn't be possible for the fabric to be air-permeable and block all light - but it does block 94% of light. Some parents have held it up to the light and think it doesn't look dark enough - but believe me it blocks 94% of light (it's been tested multiple times) and we've had many tens of thousands of baby nap avoiders give in to the power of a SnoozeShade.
The main reason why babies, who usually need complete blackout, do sleep with a SnoozeShade is because the fabric blurs visual stimuli to such an extent that babies are bored back to sleep. It also makes it dark enough for the production of melatonin to occur which is nature's signal that it's time to snooze.
- My baby is standing? Can I still use it?
The answer is - it depends on your little one. We have parents still happily using our pack'n'play blackout cover once their child is standing. We've had other smaller children show their disapproval of not being able to march around their playard. It very much depends on the individual child. It's not unsafe to use it as your child gets bigger and many little ones like the feeling of a 'den' that they get. We always suggest you try it and see how you get on.
Let baby get used to it
If you plan to use SnoozeShade away from home, we suggest that (if you can) you use it practice with it at home first. Most babies are fine but you may find your little one adapts easier to it if used at home before a trip rather than if used for the first time in a strange environment.
- Award-winning and run by real moms
The business is run by Cara and a small group of moms. We all know what it feels like when you need an answer about something you are buying for your baby. We really take customer care seriously and every message is answered by a real person - we genuinely want you to be happy with your SnoozeShade.

I recommend getting this if you find you're having trouble getting baby to sleep out of house! I'm looking forward to using it while camping too!
I heard about the SnoozeShade from online parenting groups (Precious Little Sleep especially). I thought it might be worth a try. The first two nights I left the zippered top open with a monitor so that I could see how the little one was doing at night. But I could never find a good angle with the monitor, so I ended up zippering it the third night. Baby slept much better than he did on the first two nights! We also fit in one nap in the pack and play at my grandmother's house, and that was also a success thanks to the pack and play.
I am giving only 4/5 stars for two main reasons: camera angles and fit.
First, I have found that my baby only sleeps well in a pack and play if I use a 3rd party mattress over the hard padded bottom layer that the manufacturer otherwise offers. The mattress is sized to fit the pack and play exactly. However, this is technically unsafe since baby could suffocate in between the mattress and the side of the pack and play. Some babies have even gotten underneath the mattress and suffocated. It is rare, but it is one of those unsafe sleeping situations you are supposed to avoid. Now, SnoozeShade is NOT responsible for my mattress use. However, the SnoozeShade does make it more difficult to monitor baby's sleep environment, even if the top is left unzippered. I don't know how to solve this problem. I did try avoiding using a mattress in the pack and play by renting a safety-approved crib, but all my attempts at renting a crib fell through. My baby will not sleep on the hard floor of the pack and play without it. We do need to travel with the baby, and he does need to sleep somewhere. I feel that using the SnoozeShade increases the risk while baby is sleeping in the Pack and Play.
Two, our SnoozeShade did not fit our Pack and Play tightly. It might be because our version of the Pack and Play has rounded sides, like a bassinet. I think there should be added features to the SnoozeShade (like velcros at the corners) so that parents can tighten the SnoozeShade around the Pack and Play. We weren't affected by this, since my baby doesn't yet stand up and didn't try pulling on it, but I am afraid of what might happen if he did.
We've previously used the SlumberPod and this one packs up much smaller, seems lighter, and is SO much easier to put on the pack n play! And of course it's less than half the price. Never worried about our guy's ability to breathe in this thing, it's got plenty of mesh and has mesh widows you can choose to have rolled open if you're worried. No brainer, buy this!

It also works great in the car! My baby has never slept in the car no matter what I try, and I've successfully gotten her to nap in the car while traveling, by draping the snoozeshade over her bucket seat.
If your baby sleeps in blackout conditions, don't waste your money on cheaper versions of this cover. If you only ever use it a few times, it's worth the money for the snoozeshad.

This product has absolutely changed how we travel. So simply and easy to set up over the portacot. Small and compact to chuck in the suitcase and my little one loves it. We decided to do a weekend away this weekend and he had been sleeping the same as he does at home. If you are thinking about getting one, do it! Amazon also had super quick delivery and the lady on the snooze shade Instagram was so helpful in working out how I could get one over the holiday period. Definitely a must had for travelling with a baby!
