When I took them out on the street, with driveway ramps and sidewalk ramps, I really started to feel the limitations of the Drift as a commuting tool. The Drift works as advertised - they work well when the ground has less than 10 degrees of inclination. But the real world can have sections of small hills where the Drift will struggle and you'll have to carry them.
But nevertheless, they're super fun to experience and own. I'll be taking them to new places to float around on. Maybe in the future, someone will make commuter versions of these.
I don't understand the 1-star review complaining about difficulty (they are motorized skates so know what you're getting), and build quality (it's actually very good.)
She says this is the best Christmas gift she has ever gotten, which means score for me! ;)

I’m an experienced rollerblader, but this is nothing like rollerblading, people who are comparing these to roller-skates are wrong. This is simply its own thing.
I never bought the regular hoverboards because They looked dangerously, if you slip on the regular hoverboards, your whole body goes along with the slip. On these, because they are individual units on your feet, if one of your feet loses control, you can at least have some stability with the other foot. It is still very possible to fall completely on your back, but using a wall when you get started for added stability definitely helps.
After about an hour of practice, I got addicted to using them, they are so fun!!

my town doesn't care about the cracks and holes in everything so using them here is dangerous. so i spent half price for a good bike.
For the people that have difficulty with balance I can understand, but its a bit of a mind trick when you take the initial first step the unit will help counter balance your weight so you can put your other foot up, naturally you might make it roll forward or backward but once weight is applied you should have no problem putting your other foot on the second unit.
Hope this helps :)
