    Product Description

The VideoMic with Rycote Lyre Suspension System from Rode is a shotgun microphone that can easily be mounted on a DSLR camera. It features a Rycote suspension system that attaches to the camera's shoe. The VideoMic is lightweight, and when mounting on a camera it does not appear in the frame. The VideoMic can also mount to Rode's boompoles for elevated audio capture. Its super-cardioid polar pattern attenuates sounds from the sides. The result is a signal that sounds closer to the camera, even when shooting in noisy environments or at moderate distances.

The included Rycote Lyre is a non-elasticated suspension structure composed of a hard-wearing thermoplastic. It is more effective at acoustically decoupling microphones from unwanted vibrations, handling and cable-borne noise than elasticated suspensions. The lyre remains effective at a wide range of temperatures and is virtually indestructible. It will never wear out, sag, snap or require any rethreading to maintain its effectiveness.

An attached, coiled cable terminates to a 1/8" (3.5mm) mini output connection. The VideoMic features a condenser element that utilizes a standard 9 Volt battery (sold separately). The microphone will run for approximately 100 hours on a single battery.

    In the box:
    - Rode Videomic Shotgun microphone with Rycote Lyre Suspension
    - Black music stand with tripod base and boom arm (comes separately, extends from 3'1" to 7'2" when used together)
    - Music stand to 3/8" adapter
    - 1/8" stereo 25' extension cable

First off, thank you to Melissa who was super on top of sorting out where my package was! It was a UPS issue, but I was really grateful for her quick response and genuine concern.

The equipment is good quality, especially for the price. I only give 4 stars because I wasn't aware I needed an adapter cable for my iphone. I did a lot of research before my purchase and that information wasn't as readily available as I wish it had been. Regardless the adapter was $10 on amazon, and I'm very happy with my purchase.

This is a nice microphone, and it works well for a good backup audio on many of my video projects. The only issue I've had is that the battery plate won't slide over properly over the battery.

La calidad de audio que ofrece el producto para nuestras grabaciones lo hace merecedor de 5 estrellas.

Lo utilizamos en un celular android en el cual se le tuvo que comprar un adaptador, pero fuera de eso, excelente.

This kit is awesome and took my audio to another level. It allows me so much flexibility on set or in any area. The only thing that could make this kit the best of the best, is if they included at least a 5lb sand bag.

Good deal for all the stuff you get!
However the RODE video mic suffers like most other video mics, by picking up excessive background and room noise and in my opinion, capturing lack of base in the voices.

It requires heavy audio compression and work to get the voices sounding right. If you're using the mic to capture events or ambient noises it should be fine, however when using it for YouTube videos or VLOGS, just keep in mind that the audio may or may not sound so great depending on the environment you are in.

In our case, the background noise of our office and the air conditioning can be heard as a low hum throughout all the audio we record in the office.
Doing Vlog in the car we also pick up a lot of wind noise (windows closes) and other distortion that really leaves the audio feeling low quality.

Don't get me wrong, this is leagues ahead of using no mic at all, but just be warned that you're not going to be getting cinema audio quality out of this thing and if you really cant to capture some deep base and high quality tones in voices, you're probably better off using a cheap lavaliere mic instead.

Overall, I like RODE products and there's still a time and a place to use a mic like this.
