- Very large capacity for it's size and cost. I don't know why other humidifiers are so small in capacity while being larger in size. Even AirCare has larger space humidifiers but less water capacity. Just odd.
- Super easy to fill and use.
- Does work in large spaces but needed 2 for a large 4000sqft home.
- Wick easily available to purchase, and super easy to switch out. I've had other humidifiers that the wicks are impossible to find, and even more so to switch out.
- Also very easy to clean as it disassembles leaving simple parts to wash.
- Auto shut off when empty, and informative display.
- Fan is before the humidity wick, so it will have a much longer life. Putting the fan motor after the wick seems dumb to me as that allows the wet air to collect in the electric motor both increasing mold possibilities and making cleaning harder. This does NOT do that, thank goodness.
- large water fill area.
Cons
- Yep, it's loud on all but lowest setting for fan.
- Fan makes odd buzzing on 2nd setting.
- Only 3 fan settings, while many others have up to 6 or 8.
- Can't fill when running, as it fills water into the air exit so that might blow water out as you try to put it in. But then again it is a large opening, so give and take on this one I guess.
- It's kind of ugly. AirCare makes a very good looking pedestal version but it's 1/2 the water capacity and the motor/fan is after the wick on air flow making more likely to be troublesome. I'd like to see them redesign this one to be better looking, like the pedestal model with a usable table top.
I'm here today to buy another one of these, to add to a larger home we just moved into. Our current unit is about 5 years old and still going strong so these appear to have a very long life. Plus getting wicks is so easy, we've really enjoyed have this humidifier and using it.
I use the Essick bacteriostat treatment (1/2 cap per fill-up) and change the wick at least two times per winter (typically operating from Halloween to Easter). The wick unit may develop a musty smell after a couple of months, so 4 new wicks per season would be ideal but more costly, of course. It is easy to fill. Just be sure that you turn off the power before adding the bacteriostat (eye hazard) or water. For safety, I use a Sharpie to write a reminder to "power off" on the top of every bottle of bacteriostat that I buy.
It is easy to replace the wick. While the wick holder/frame works fine, it can be a challenge to unsnap the frame. A better frame design would be worthwhile since the plastic snaps (catches?) can break off. The float mechanism uses styrofoam -- which is effective, but likely to have a limited life. Otherwise, I've only had two mechanical issues: 1) the power button is finicky and often requires a really hard press to stop and start the unit 2) the digital humidistat stopped reading correctly after a couple of seasons. It still works, but I doubt the accuracy. Because of that, I have to set the desired humidity level to a very high setting to keep the unit running at the humidity levels needed.
All 3 fan settings still work fine. If the unit were placed in a bedroom, then the top speed setting would be louder than most users would appreciate. However, located in a hallway (or any non-bedroom), I happen to like it for the background/white-noise. Averaging the cost over 8 years, this unit has been a very good value. Would buy again.

First off, filling this thing is so much easier than my last unit. I just take a pitcher filled with tap water, and dump it in. It's that easy and makes me wish I had bought a "top-fill" unit ages ago. As for the speed settings, low (1) is pretty quiet and seems to be able to keep my humidity level at around 37% which is good for my place. I fill the water daily, but I believe it would last about 2 days before going empty on this setting. The 2nd setting is a little useless as it's quite loud, so you may as well use the the setting (3) which is a little louder, but barely and works better. I personally set the humidity to 45%, and it's able to keep up as long as I keep it filled with water. I'd say the full tank lasts about 24hrs on this setting. It does turn off once it hits 45%, but it doesn't turn off very often, so I think 45% is somewhat maxing out it's capabilities for my home. If I set it to 50% it would likely always stay on, and maybe go up to 47%-ish. Anyways, I have it on (3) when I'm not in the same room, and (1) when I am. My humidity level is always between a healthy 35-45% as a result, which I am happy with.
Overall my only complain is that it's white and doesn't fit my decor at all. I can live with that as long as it keep working though.
