This device gets full bars of wifi signal where my last card did not. It shouldn't be surprising giving the size of this device. It is extremely fast. It is hard to describe, but it is also better at handling packet loss. For example, playing Rocket League while someone is watching Netflix. It was impossible with my old wifi card. With this one, it is possible, although you can still feel the occasional lag spike. But, that's just because my internet isn't the fastest. When no one else is doing anything heavy, it's perfect. I'm able to play Rocket League, League of Legends, Battlefield 4 and more with absolutely no problems. Very fluid experience.
I use this on a desktop computer, and I would recommend anyone with a desktop get this card as well if looking for a wifi solution. No need to try to fit a PCI card in next to a monstrous GPU. I have it tucked behind the computer and it's been perfect.
My unit was a Ver 2.0; apparently some reviewers say Ver 1 has different chipset than Ver 2., and makes a difference in compatibility with the OS you're using.
A product feature is the external antenna, which seems to pull in a slightly stronger signal than my AIO. For my AIO desktop, size was OK for it but maybe too large for laptops. It didn't crowd out access to another USB port.
Setup (for Windows 10) consisted of inserting the T2UH into a USB port (2.0 is more than OK), then run setup CD (Ver. 07/2017) to install driver. My AIO recognized the device, and once connected to WiFi internet, I downloaded TP-LINK's later software (Ver 12/2017).
Seem to work as well as my prior AIO, except that Windows File Explorer takes 10-seconds to connect to my NAS (network) hard drives (WD MyCloud). It takes a long connection whenever accessing my NAS HD after the PC "wakes up." After, initial connection, have normal, fast access, but takes 10 seconds to reconnect after the next "wake up."
For $18, I would buy again. Will write more if issues develop.
I am using this for my Mom's desktop machine running Windows 10, and from the moment I plugged it in, it worked flawlessly. My mom lives in an assisted living facility, and they charge $35/month for wired internet access, but they have site-wide free Wifi. So this turns out to be an ideal solution - for the cost of less than one month's of wired service, she can still connect to the net, for free forever.
The free wifi signal is a bit weak in her room, so I figured I needed a device like this with a decent external antenna. Now, I didn't compare side-by-side with a unit that has a built-in antenna, but I am getting pretty decent signal strength with this unit, and is more than enough to watch youtube videos, for example.
