Change of mind, the more I play this game the more I realize how poorly executed it was. After two updates fixing minor bugs, the huge problems remain, it doesn’t crash as much as before but instead you are logged out of the server even more, so there’s no real improvement, specially after spending half of your resources trying to claim a junkyard in order to get scraps in return. Objects keep dancing around, enemies float in the air, trying to snipe a giant scorpion at a safe distance? No point, it’ll suddenly appear right in front of you right before pulling the trigger, building is annoyingly limited, carrying and holding capacity is still annoyingly limited even after the 200 lbs increment, no more fun interactions with game characters and no companions.
After a few patches the game is finally starting to improve. There are still some issues with the servers but the majority of the problems have been resolved, a little too late? Maybe not if you haven’t played the game yet. Overall it’s still a good game, definitely not as good as FO4 but still a good game.
It seems like Bethesda was finally able to fix the game with the latest upgrade. I wish that this latest patch had been the release version, but once again, a little too late? Maybe not for the real fans or for those who had not played it yet. It just finally feels like fallout, the game doesn’t seem to have any bugs, there are no game crashes, no unexpected visual flaws that I was able to detect, no lag. If you were thinking about getting this game but decided not to after all the bad reviews, you made the right call, but now the right call is to get it and finally experience fallout the way it was meant to be all along.
Key complaints with responses.
1) Buggy. Yes. It has bugs. They can be annoying. They'll hopefully get fixed quickly.
2) Nothing to do. Simply put, I don't know what they're talking about. The map is huge, the quest list is long. Yes dialogue is voiced from tapes instead of NPCs, not the end of the world. But it doesn't mean there is nothing to do.
3) Lack of ammo. Blatantly untrue. If you can't find ammo, it's because you're not looking or killing anything. I am literally forgoing picking up ammo at this point I have so much. Maybe with fully automatic weapons you might have an issue. But with using a hunting rifle, I'm getting .308 ammo faster than I'm using it. And melee weapons are some of the most powerful in the early game anyway. It's a bit ridiculous.
4) Microtransactions. Yeah they exist but they do not affect the game play at all. AT ALL. They're skins on items, emotes, and clothing. I'm actually sitting on almost 800 Atoms right now wishing they'd add more stuff because I want something else to buy. Not entirely impressed with what they have now.
My friends and I are having a blast in the game. And we feel like there is so much potential for post launch.
