Replacing 50mm f1.4 with this. It is cheap on price but big on performance. I can hardly tell the blur difference between f1.4 and f1.8. STM is much quieter and I feel slightly faster than micro USM. AF does hunt a little bit more at the end of search than f1.4 but it is really really small difference. I rekon given enough light you cannot tell the difference. The plastic shell is not cheaply built, focus ring is plastic but smoother than f1.4. It is eletronically coupled to AF motor so you can feel a bit of a delay especially manually focusing quickly. Cannot change focus when powered off or camera is idle, again not a problem for most practical situations. Focus throw is long so you can get fine control. It is a lot lighter and shorter. Inner barrel sticks out by 1cm max. You can tell tell the inner barrel plastic is not as nicely finished as those Japanese production lens but functionally it does not matter. The color is really nice with this lens. I reckon this is a must have for somemone upgrading from a cheap kit lens. It is really small and fun to shoot. Yields expensive looking results. One noticeable downside I could say is the metal mounting ring may be be less precisely machined than the Japanese made models. I could feel noticeably more resistance when mounting this lens.

Amazing lens. Paired with my canon EOS1200D it takes some really stunning photos. It opens extremely wide and for the price it is very hard to beat. the STM motor is fast but it does make a bit of sound as it focuses. It seems like it performs sharper when you stop it down to f4 so if you have ample light its a great option. It performs well throughout the range all the way from f1.8-11 provided you have enough light. A really good first upgrade from a kit lens that comes with your camera.

A 50mm é minha lente preferida, versátil e econômica.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hervorragende Bildqualität zu einem erschwinglichen Preis!
Reviewed in Germany on 26 April 2024
Size Name: 50 mmPattern Name: SingleVerified Purchase

5.0 out of 5 stars A questo prezzo ottimo
Reviewed in Italy on 29 February 2024

Pro
- Messa a fuoco automatica davvero ottima
