I don't usually buy Slow cooker cookbooks as most of the recipes use a lot of processed items like canned soup and French onion soup mix. Not a good idea for someone like me that has a lot of food sensitivities. Or they have a some hard to find ingredients.

The title of Semi-Whole foods caught my attention and I am so glad that I took a chance with this book. There are still a few recipes that I will not be able to use, I need to cook lactose free foods, but there are many that I can use. My family has for the most part loved the dinners that I have tried so far. My picky oldest daughter especially loved the Enchilada Lasagna, she asked if I could save the leftovers for her to take to school for lunch.

This is my kind of CookBook, easy to follow, easy to find ingredients and NO cansof cream-of-whatever soups. Real home-cooking style in your Crock-Pot/Slow-Cooker.Sister From the South's t-total approval, a must have.

Wonderful recipes, easy to put together. Most ingredients you can find at your local health food store. Surprise was how many desserts can be done in a crock pot, who'd of thunk it!!! This author does a wonderful job, helping to give you healthy alternative for your family.

I am always looking for new crockpot recipes and did find a few here. I did change a few ingredients in some of the recipes to make them a little healthier (replacing heavy cream with part skim milk and part fat free greek yogurt). I even got my picky husband to try a few of these!!

We are totally gluten free and I was able to easily make the recipes in this book work for us! Even the sandwiches and wraps can be eaten wrapped in lettuce and so no recipes are going unused. Stacy's recipes are different enough to add variety to our menu, but don't use exotic ingredients that are hard to find. Love this!

I would definitely recommend this crockpot cookbook. Had company visiting this week and tried out several of the recipes for the first time -all with excellent results! The ingredients are simple and do not use any cream of... soups which I appreciate. The author's tips are helpful and it is actually fun reading her on-going commentary in the intro and throughout the cookbook.

Homemade can be healthy. Dairy and full fat don't necessarily mean "unhealthy". But this book is really over the top. I wish the one negative reviewer had been more specific. She complained of too much dairy and gluten. I have no issue with either and believed the recipes could be healthy, but these recipes are over the top. Corn with cheese, cream cheese and honey? The pasta recipes contain cream cheese, the chicken contains cream cheese and cream (and sugar), the beef contains cream cheese. These might be nice occasional "treats" but way too heavy for weekly consumption.

I also feel like the title "whole foods" meant that it would focus on whole grains and foods that didn't require sugar. Nope, jasmine rice vs brown. Regular pasta vs whole wheat. White flour vs whole wheat. And LOTS of ketchup (which has lots of sugar).

On a personal note, I always feel robbed when a slow cooker cookbook includes more than 1 or 2 soup recipes. There is nothing special about soup made in a crock pot. ANY soup can be made in a crock pot (ok, I'm sure there is an exception . . . maybe).

A better name to this would have been - your mother's casseroles in a crock pot, with only the condensed soups missing.
