Product Description

The ALPS Mountaineering Lynx Tent is packed with high quality, top notch features. The Lynx, which has aluminum poles opposed to fiberglass poles, is very similar to our Taurus Tent series. The Lynx has more mesh than the Taurus, taking up half of the walls on each side allowing even more ventilation. The tent is an easy to set up, 2 pole rectangular dome style tent with pole clips that easily fit over the poles for quick assembly. ALPS has not cut any corners... between the factory sealed fly and floor seams, weatherproof fly buckles, 2 doors for easy entering and leaving, 2 vestibules for extra gear storage or weather protection, and extra-large #8 zippers, you're sure to find everything you could want in a tent with our Lynx.

The Model T of tents

The Model T of tents
I'm finally leaving a review for this tent after having owned it for about 5 years. I paid about $105 when I bought from Amazon - apparently significantly less that I I see the price today. Since then, it has performed flawlessly, though I have never tested it in the rain. When I go camping - Usually on one of the sandbars along the Perdido river here in NW Florida - I typically go in the Spring or Fall following a cold front. After that, we might not get rain for a week. That said, I can't comment on much else other than to say that I wish a GOOD tent company like ALPS would make tents in a camo pattern. There are lots of camo tents out there, just no GOOD ones unless you want to pay $300 for the Eureka! camo model or some such nonsense. I call this the Model T of tents because it's a good tent for the masses, but like Henry Ford supposedly commented with regard to that vehicle's color, “Any color the customer wants, as long as it's black.” This limited selection keeps the ALPS Lynx from having five stars for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent backpacking tent, excellent price.
Reviewed in the United States on June 30, 2017
Bought the tent since it has a smaller footprint then my 10x10 tent for camping in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. Easy to set up alone, easier with two people. One the second day out we had a storm between the hours of 10pm-7am. A downpour of rain, wind enough that it made me happy we set up extra guy lines (the tent only comes with four included guy lines and 6 stakes, I would recommend guying it out additionally and adding some more stakes), and some insane lightning. My only complaint is with the footprint I bought for it - it was a little big along the sides, and allowed some rain to be blown between the footprint and the tent. Also, the rain was blowing sideways a lot so we had to close the small vents along the top of the rainfly. All in all, a great tent that packs small and kept us dry. The vestibules can fit two packs on each side (4 total- but they will be jammed). I am going to spray it with some silicone spray along the bottoms where the rainfly doesn't touch the ground and I think I have a perfect tent. So happy I didn't spend the bucks for an expensive REI tent like my travel buddy did - he had problems with water coming in at the seams and zipper.

Fantastic, budget option for a tall man. I’m 6’3 and took me a long time to find something spacious, relatively lightweight and not expensive. Highly recommended!
