This seems to work very well and has a much more pleasing form factor than Apple's line of dongles. I noticed from some other reviews that there were complaints about it getting very hot. How hot? Well no one seems to have shared that information beyond colorful metaphors so I decided to find out for myself. I plugged in the device, plugged in the power, added a microSD card and wrote a script to continuously read and write from the card. I used an infrared thermometer with a digital readout to keep an eye on it. It does seem to run a bit on the warm side. After about an hour of continuous use, the surface got to 104°F. That is pretty warm to the touch though not blazingly hot. I stopped the script and just let it sit there and the temperature seems to stay right around 104°F. I cannot speak for the experience of other people, but while yes, it does run a little on the warm side, I don't see it as a problem and it is cooler than my current CPU temperature which reads at 177°F. So with that out of the way, how well does it work? Just fine. I have USB devices plugged into it as well as a microSD card and a full-size SD card. It works like it's supposed to.

This device is terrible. You have heard others say it gets hot - it gets incredibly hot. I would say about 60 deg c.
This happens the minute you plug in power and have the laptop open.

So if you want to charge your laptop and phone with the lid close - that's fine.
What I wanted was a device that would give me USB2/3 at the same time as SD and to be able to charge the laptop.
This does that except I am too afraid to leave this plugged in for long so it's no more useful than unplugging the power to temporarily use a USB adapter.

I have got access to a thermal camera at work and when I have a chance I will add some images so you can see this thing gets stupidly hot.

After about 4 uses the SD reader failed. Not surprising given the heat. The is junk. DON'T BUY
And Amazon do not offer any warrantee beyond their return policy.
I don't think I will ever buy from Amazon again!!

It's like a docking station for your Dell. With 2 USB3 ports another SD card slot and a MicroSD card slot, it makes a great companion for your XPS. You can use the Juiced 5-in-1 to pass through USB power if you have a capable adapter, or you can continue to use the Dell Power cable. I'm personally thinking about having one for work and home it's such a nice little piece of hardware. The Space Grey isn't an exact color match for the Dell, but since you rarely have it connected while the notebook is closed it doesn't really matter. Only wish Item I would have is if Juiced made their little piece of hardware a bit more dense, it feels a little hollow and plasticky even though it is metal. One additional comment, it will get warm, I measured it at 110f just with a USB mouse plugged into it, toasty.

Overall, this adapter works well for most devices. With this adapter I've been able to charge my laptop, read/write to SD cards, use thumb drives, and use powered external USB hard drives. It also seems to handle having multiple devices plugged in at the same time just fine. While the space gray adapter is not a perfect match for the space gray macbook, the color is close and it looks nice when attached.

Unfortunately, I'm not able to give this adapter 5 stars for the following reasons.
* It gets VERY HOT very quickly. I mostly use this adapter for the SD card reader; I tend to copy files over as quickly as possible and then remove the adapter because I'm concerned the heat could damage something. Connecting the power to the adapter seems actually make it less hot, but still hotter than I'm comfortable with

* Does not work for unpowered USB3 external hard drives (even when power cable is plugged in to adapter).

* Feels a little wiggly; doesn't quite sit flush against the laptop. I find that connecting/disconnecting devices to the adapter is better done when the adapter is NOT connected to my laptop.

Bottom line - the adapter is functional, but overpriced for the quality. I'll keep using it since I have it, but I wouldn't buy it again.

This works well and I like the form factor of it. It has been the one adapter I need for anything that comes up with my macbook that needs something else plugged in. However, I have only had it for 4 months (slightly less) and the SD card reader is already broken. Not exactly ideal.
Reviewed in the United States on April 24, 2016
I had such high hopes, but the product is quite a disappointment and the low reviews appear to be spot on. The following issues will affect Macbook 2016/Skylake users:

* When connecting the device with a USB-C charging cable, 90% of the time the device will cause the macbook to quickly flip between Charging/Not Charging state. This will eventually stop if you unplug and replug the device several times. (There seems to be a host-client negotiation issue)

* After longer periods of charging, the device heats up and STOPS ALLOWING ANY CHARGING. That's right... after a while, the charging stops. This one's a deal breaker.

I really wanted to like this device. It simply doesn't function as it was intended to.

I would highly recommend this USB-C Adaptor to anybody that has Macbook. The first adaptor I receive started to get really hot once I use it for then five hours. But the Juiced Systems replace the product fast without any headache. After I receive the replacement I haven't had any problems with it overheating.

It's pretty good, but I wish it were more stable. It kinda moves around more than I'm comfortable with, doesn't feel very secure. But, as far as I can tell, it's a one of a kind product, and it's working as advertised.

I've only had this for a few months and used it less than 10 times. It is a great accessory...if it worked, but It no longer works. It gets so hot it shuts down the connection from my itunes to my phone and I can barely touch it to unplug it from the computer. Don't know if this particular unit is just shorting or if it is a poor quality product.
