Super cute, not very durable
These are the cutest letter magnets I've found. The only downside is they are not sturdy wood or plastic or anything that would stand up to much abuse or baby chewing. They are closer to cardboard type material. I got them for my 14 month old daughter who is still in the "everything in the mouth" phase. That being said, I just make sure she's supervised when playing with them and I don't let her chew on them :)They don't seem to be the best quality as our "y" came apart after one play session. The colored top part separated from the magnet part. Not a huge deal. A little superglue fixed it. We didn't abuse them or anything. My daughter just likes to take them off the magnet board and move them around. We talk about the letters and group the ones that are the same. She absolutely loves them. The little storage box they come in is also handy. I stained it to match her playroom furniture and it's great to keep the magnets together when I can't closely supervise her playing with them.

I bought these for my son when he was about 2. He is now 8 and two more children later we still have these! All except the ones that have been wedged irretrievably under the fridge... they are colorful and the kids love playing with them. It’s always fun to go get some milk out of the fridge and see the word “fart” written across it. Kids giggling in the background. Great gift for a toddler or preschooler beginning to learn their letters

I thought the set was a bit pricey, but seeing them in action, they're worth every penny. The quality is superior to the two other brands of magnets I bought at the same time (Melissa & Doug animals and T.S. Shure Railroad MagnaWheels). The designs are colorful and bright, but not so busy that they'd throw off a toddler. My 21-month-old squealed upon seeing them, shouted "O", and grabbed the "O" magnet straight away. We've been playing with them non-stop for 5 days now. I got the  Little Red Tool Box: Magnetic Tabletop Learning Easel  to place these on and I could not be more pleased!

I bought these for my child, to help learn the alphabet and basic spelling.
I am totally satisfied with the quality of the product. My child is a little rough with things and so far, has not yet managed to harm the letters in any way. They have all now survived multiple drops.

There are only 56 letters in this set, so I would recommend purchasing two sets, making it possible to spell several words at once, rather than only one or two (especially if you intend to use this product as a method of communication with other members of the household.).

The letters are bright and colorful. Each has it's own color and pattern. They are also thick, and easy for small fingers to grasp and remove from a magnetic surface. The magnets are strong enough to be pushed about on the fridge without falling off, but weak enough a child can pull them off the surface without much effort.
The letters are also nicely sized, about the size of a small child's palm.

I am overall satisfied and will buy from this company again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Très bien

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Amazing
Reviewed in Canada on August 13, 2013
I had chosen this set over the MudPuppy and Melissa & Doug set, because of comments left by other reviewers. I had seen the competitors' sets in person but not the Vilac. Upon receiving my order, I don't find this set superior to the other two.

The "body" of the letter is made out of wood, and the colourful print is a piece of laminated cardboard pressed onto the wood. These letters are set in a rounded font, and many of the letters have messy cuts where a tight curve happens (at least on my set). That's just an aesthetic thing, but I wasn't expecting such obvious imperfections. The wood part on one of the "O"s wasn't smoothed out and is rough to the touch. I thought about returning the set because I don't want my kid to cut herself, but in the end I just filed it down myself.

Maybe my expectations were too high so I'm not impressed with this at all. The worst part is that my 1.5 yr old seemed to like the dollar store plastic set that we were playing with at the library so much more than this one! hahaha ;p

This are lovely letters that are well made and colourful. It makes a nice change to the plastic letters that you normally see strewn across fridges. I may even buy some more.
