Curls 2: Versatile, Wearable Wraps to Knit at Any Gauge Paperback – August 23, 2016

4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 102 ratings

Do you love shawls but find them hard to wear? Struggle to get gauge? Have a stash full of special, single skeins? Then Curls are just what you've been looking for!
Each of these 14 new patterns creates a delightfully curved shape that drapes beautifully around your neck and shoulders. They're easy to wear in lots of different ways, work at any gauge and can be knit to any size. Let your favorite skein of yarn determine your gauge and the size of your project. Make a cowl, a scarf or a shawl. You're in charge and you're going to love the results.
One small note, the structure of these pieces lends itself much better to charted instructions than to written out instructions. So please be aware that all the patterns use charts. If you're new to charts, never fear. There is a lovely introduction to using charts at the front of the book. Read through it, and you'll be ready to go in no time!

About the Author

Hunter Hammersen didn't really like knitting the first time she tried it. She didn't much care for it the second time either. It wasn't till the third time, and the discovery of knitted socks, that she was properly smitten. Once she realized she could make up her own patterns, her fate was sealed. She's been busy designing ever since.

Hunter Hammersen was supposed to stay in school for a shockingly long time, get a respectable-sounding job, and quietly become a proper grownup. Instead she got distracted by colorful string, started writing knitting books, and fled to the rocky coast of Maine where she spends a frankly alarming amount of time in her back yard taking pictures of yarn. But don't tell anyone...she's still slightly worried someone will find out she escaped and try to drag her back to that other life.

I bought the first Curls book, and loved it. I'm working on a wrap from the first book, and it is really fun and easy once you understand how the construction works. The author has again brought some great designs in her new book Curls 2. The best thing about this book, and her designs is that you can use any weight of yarn, and any needle size, It's up to you!

Love all her books and have every single one of them.
I’ve said it before and will say it again, her explanations for this technique she’s came up with is easy to understand, and once you do get it, it’s easy to master her beautiful designs.
My advice is to take your time, find a quiet corner, and read through how she constructs these before attempting to jump in a start.

I haven't finished one yet but have swatched a couple of patterns to get the hang of it. Love that you can pick any yarn and needles you want.

This is a really novel approach to knitting scarfs and shawls. If you have a yarn stash, this book should be part of your library. Without giving away what's inside, this concept allows you to use what you have, both yarn and needles, to create beautiful one of a kind accessories. I've made one so far, but I can tell you this will be my go to book for this type of garment going forward.

This follow up to the first Curls book is just as fantastic. I love his designs, the book is very clearly laid out, the charts are easy to follow, and the pictures are beautiful. I’m on my second Curl already, and got so many compliments on the first one! Love it!!!

I now own both of the Curls books and love them - the patterns are beautiful and easy to follow, and there's enough variety to take care of most of my holiday gifts without repeating a pattern!

The formatting of the charts in a simple set of building blocks is very clever, but you don't really need a full booklet of patterns to know how to map any stitch pattern onto a similar grid and make a little wrap with yarns you might have around. I was actually a bit disappointed that the book didn't give more inspiration and include color work or brioche techniques. I would recommend it for new knitters but not for advanced knitters looking for new techniques.

5.0 out of 5 stars J'en ai réussi un

4.0 out of 5 stars
