BEFORE YOU START READING: This is a version of the ProMedia 2.1 from 2003. Since then Klipsch has reduced the quality of their components. There is newer version of the ProMedia that does not have a THX certification and has a lower frequency response. There is also a Bluetooth version which you should not buy since there are alternatives like the Logitech Bluetooth adapter which are cheaper than the price hike between the Bluetooth model and this model. In addition, this Bluetooth model uses the same lower quality components as the new ProMedia 2.1. I have not heard these new models yet but I can assure you that these sound better. So don't buy the $130 ProMedia, buy these.
This will be a long review. TL;DR: It's 4.8/5 overall. It's better than its competition in terms of fidelity, and it can get very loud if you connect it to a good motherboard. There will be large categories followed by individual subcategories. This is the format:

Build Quality: 4.5/5
Subwoofer: 4.25/5
Made out of plastic and can get dirty easily. However, it has good connectors at the back and its grille is made of very high quality metal, so Klipsch spent money where it mattered. Still, it would have been nice to have more rounded edges like the SoundSticks III (which you shouldn't buy, I'll explain in a minute). P.S. don't forget to apply the rubber feet included in the box to the bottom of the sub, otherwise it will shake on the floor and sound weird.)
Satellites: 4.75/5
The plastic construction here feels much higher quality than I expected for, well, plastic. In addition, it has a metal base, which is great for less vibrations. (For 0 vibration, use the extra rubber feet.) The grilles are well made as well and do not obstruct the sound. I just wish they were magnetically attached (the grilles won't fall off, but they can be pulled off far too easily).
Value: 4.5/5
Klipsch could have used better materials for $150, but they didn't so they could live up to their name. Legendary sound always comes first. You'll see what I mean shortly.
Sound Quality: 4.9/5
Bass: 4.8/5
The bass output of these speakers is just incredible. It's very tight and clean but will definitely shake the floor if you turn the "Subwoofer" knob past half. There are few speakers that can do this, be clean and be loud. That's why I give it such a high rating. I don't give it a 5 because it's not a 200 watt subwoofer like the Z623, so it won't work for a full scale party. But at that point, the house will be shaking, so there's no point in my opinion. For day to day use, this sub gets a solid 5.
Highs: 5/5
Not much to say here. Klipsch is renowned for their horn tweeter's; I would have been surprised if it were any worse. You simply can't beat the highs from this unit. So clean and distortion-free at all volumes.
Mids: 5/5
I'm surprised that this unit performed so well with mids, considering its lack of a dedicated driver. Cleanliness is a theme for Klipsch: no distortion here either. It's actually comparable in quality to the audio I get out of my Pioneer Elite setup (see my other reviews: its a great home theater system), which has a dedicated mids driver. To be fair, the Pioneers are much farther away than these Klipsch ProMedia's are when I'm listening. Regardless, super impressive.
High Volume: 5/5
This thing gets loud. I keep my PC volume at 10% and the ProMedia's amplifier at 50% and the sub still shakes my floor. It only distorts once you push the volume so high that your neighbors can hear. So I give it a 5.
Low Volume: 5/5
I was surprised by the detail this $150 unit maintained at a barely audible 2% PC volume and 30% ProMedia volume. It really didn't lose any detail at all. This is how you can tell it has very high quality components.
Static: 4.6/5
You hear no static when connected via line out from a good computer, but the input on the side of the right speaker gives a lot of static unless you turn down the ProMedia volume to 25%. Considering how loud it gets, however, I don't think this is a deal-breaker at all. 50% PC volume instead of 10% and you'll be golden.
Value: 4.9/5
For the quality of audio, it's so, so cheap. I love it. The SoundSticks III and the Z623 are marginally cheaper for a world of difference in sound quality.
Bonus: 0.2 points
The THX certification is really cool to brag about (and obviously is justified, given this unit's sound quality). It means that the unit passes the sound tests of THX's tests, and considering how massive of a name THX is in the movie industry, this is really impressive.
So, 4.5 + 4.9 + 0.2 is 9.6 out of 10, or 4.8/5. Highly recommend the ProMedia 2.1!

Not Top-Of-The-Line, but good overall
USE: Home OfficePROS: Klipsch reputation, sound quality, relatively compact size, bass output.CONS: Satellites a bit large for a small office desk, no insulating pads for the satellites or bass cube.Klipsch earned my trust when I called them about an out-of-warranty failure of a sound bar (Cinema 400) resulted in a quick one-time free replacement. Good business. But...I was struck immediately at the lack of any "feet" for the base cube or the steel brackets on the satellites (removable). I superglued half-inch thick rubber pads to the cube. The powder-coated metal brackets slide all over the place without pads, but since it was impossible to find a place to put them on my desk in that orientation, I removed the steel brackets and looked for a way to lay them on their sides. Three self-stick foam pads were arranged on one side as shown and they nestled nicely under my monitors. The foam is also a great insulator for sound vibrations. My last beef is with the white LED on the satellite with the volume and bass controls. It is annoyingly bright! So, I dabbed a little red paint on it (with a shaky hand). Klipsch needs to change that.As for the sound and controls, I had no problems routing the sound through my Plugable port replicator and the sound is very good, not great. You'll want to keep the bass control backed off at high levels to prevent distortion, but for my listening levels and music genres, it hasn't been detectable. The satellites are awesome for this price point, but this isn't McIntosh. I do find the volume control a bit touchy at times (depends on the volume setting on the computer) but this is hardly a problem. At first blush, I am very satisfied with this purchase and I'll try to remember to update this if things change.

This system sounds so good and is the best sounding system I have had so far. This system puts out clear highs and very theater like lows that will raddle your house. Now lets dive into and through the inns and outs of this system. Today we will look at four things, build quality. Second we will look at sound quality, and third we will discuss some problems I was having with my first unit. Fourth, we will take a look at my setup. Lets, discuss the build quality, so first the speakers give a modern feel to the decor of any house. The satalite speakers are very sturdy, and one thing to note is the cover of the speakers are nice, but are also very easy to come off. Another thing is the satellites speakers them self are easy to push in, so be careful not to press against the cone of the speakers. Furthermore, the way the cords are are connected to the one satellite are very good and are easy to hide if you know how. It's important to note there is no on and off switch so you either need a a power strip with a on and off switch. I am using a extension cord that has a switch. Moreover, let's discuss the build quality of subwoofer. The subwoofer is definitely sturdy and does not weigh to much at all. The subwoofer is designed very well to produce deep lows, and in my opinion when watching movies it sounds better than some theaters. Lets move on to the sound quality, for that is the most important attribute of speakers. The sub produces really nice low frequencies especially when watching movies, and I prefer this sub over the lows at the theaters I have been to, so far. When listening to music the sub shines well, and it's not at all like other subs that do not sound as low when listening to music. I have a ten inch sub in the family room and it does not sound as nice as this one. If you enjoy bass that you can feel and really like deep bass this system is for you. Next, let's look at the sound that the satalites produce. First let's take a look at the highs and how they sound with different music. Rap music by Lecrae - blessings, Steven Malcolm, Corey Paul - Pull up sound really good. Pop music and Rock is where the satellites really shine. Lets talk about the mids. The mids help so much balance the highs and lows. Now I will discuss the problems I had with my first unit. After about three days after I got my system the sub woofer stopped working on and off. The music would play out of the satellites, but not the sub. I thought at first it was my Bluetooth receiver that I got from Amazon so I could listen to music wirelessly. It turns out there was a short in the cable and in the sub itself. Amazon has a 30 day defective return policy, so I contacted Amazon and they refunded the full amount, and I bought another Klipsch 2.1 Promedia THX. It's arriving Wednesday. Finally, I'm using a Bluetooth Receiver,Aluminum Wireless Mini Bluetooth 4.1 Receiver Adapter for 3.5mm AUX for lystening to my moms IPad wirelessly. I have the subwoofer in the corner of my room next to my bed, and the satellites on each side of my bed with the speakers facing inwards toward my ears but angled a little passed my ears. I'm using a ten foot aux cable and
Haiker 2pcs Gold Plated 3.5mm Stereo Jack to 3.5mm Audio Female/female Adapter Connectors. I'm using A DBPOWER 10.5 inch portable DVD player from Amazon and watching movies with these speakers sound amazing.
In conclusion, we looked at the build quality, sound, issues I was having, and the setup I have. If you want something for movies and music this the real deal. God bless you I pray Jesus gives you wisdom and understanding on what to buy. I will be doing a update once my second set a speakers arrive.
Update: I received my second set of speakers, and they work great no problems any more. They sound so good, and before I put them in my room I hooked them up in the family room. They sounded so good, I watched a couple of blue rays and wow never heard such great sound from such small speakers, from a 2.1 setup. In conclusion I'm very happy with these speakers, I'm praying to see if it's wise to buy some for the family room. Even though we have a 5.1 surround sound setup made by Samsung, for these sound five times as good as those. Have a blessed day I'm praying for everyone who reads this. Your awesome and wonderfully made.
Update: I just bought my second set of speakers for my parents house, and they sound better than in my room. Furthermore, I am using them as Home Theater system, and they sound amazing crystal clear highs, tight deep lows. Blue Rays sound outstanding it sounds better than the theater. Music sounds really good, especially rap like from artists Lecrae, Trip Lee, KB, Derick Minor, Tedashii. Finally, if your looking for PC or Home Theater system buy it you will not regret it.
