I recently took an engineering job at a shipyard with very little welding knowledge. As such, I was drawn to this book as a means to better understand what I was working with and was not disappointed. This book has in-depth information about pretty much every welding process and technique one can think of. It also includes info about how to properly produce and interpret weld drawings. It has lots of details but formatted in a way which is easy to understand. It helped me go from virtually no welding knowledge to possibly having the best understanding in my department.
From an engineering perspective the only thing this book doesn't include is the mathematics behind weld design, but that's not really the target audience

Rented for Tig welding course. The Modern welding book is one of the better textbooks covering multiple welding processes. I would check with the course instructor to verify that it will be actually used in the classroom or not. I would recommend this book as a good reference to have at home to help improve your welding skills.

Book is exactly what I expected. One exception, at the time of ordering I didn't know I needed an student access key to get more content from G-W publishing website. It includes content that is great for searching through when you're studying. I went back to my order and looked for a method to contact seller, for my access key after ordering and i had zero luck. I have to give this review only 2 stars for that very reason. I paid $122. I'd love to be able to access all resources included with this book.
For future reference for the SELLER, please include access key info for the student that purchases this book!
