About this item

  • NO.1 CANNED COFFEE BRAND IN JAPAN – BOSS Coffee is the No.1 canned coffee brand in Japan (2021, Intage). Beans sourced from the best Colombian and Brazilian grow regions are brewed and canned in Japan by Award Winning company, Suntory - the makers of the No.1 bourbon (Jim Beam) and other fine whiskies.
  • READY TO DRINK COFFEE – For the on-the-go professional who demands high quality coffee. Enjoy when you rise, in a mug or straight out the can. Enjoy your way - in travel or pour over ice, to create a crisp iced coffee.
  • MEET THE NEW FLASH BREW – Temperature is high when we brew then chilled rapidly to create an authentic 'flash brew' coffee. This allows for a bolder flavor with a smoother aftertaste without negative bitterness.
  • COFFEE, THE ORIGINAL ENERGY DRINK – Leave sugar-filled sodas and soft drinks behind. BOSS coffee is a great alternative to nitro cold brew coffee and sodas.
  • NATURALLY BREWED CAFFEINE – 130mg of naturally brewed caffeine - the equivalent of a doubleshot of espresso.

Be Your Own Boss

For the ambitious, the go-getters, the thinkers, and visionaries, BOSS coffee is the brand that delivers flavor and quality in one simple package. We’ll never settle for anything less than perfection and our process proves it.

The Flash Brew Difference

The flash brew difference in one word: Flavor. Coffee beans are finely ground and brewed hot. Flavor is released, then trapped in a flash of ice. All to deliver one perfect can of BOSS Coffee.

Proven Quality By Suntory

BOSS Coffee started its history in 1992 in Japan. Flash brew is something new to you, but we at Suntory have been working on Ready-To-Drink (RTD) coffee for over 30 years, now it’s time for you to enjoy it.

Best Served Chilled

Our BOSS Coffee is not only full of balanced flavor, it’s also pretty gorgeous served over ice. Welcome to a better cold coffee.

Customers like the taste of the coffee. They say it has a deep and satisfying taste, the richness of the blend is the best, and it's a great Japanese coffee. The coffee has smoky, bold flavor with mild acidity and sweetness. It's creamy and sweet enough to take some of the bitterness of a coffee, and is the most delicious canned coffee money can buy.

It's coffee in a can
Like some of the others reviewing this product, you've probably visited Japan at some point and bought coffee from a vending machine. This is one of the products that you might have bought. It's not mind-blowing, but it's reasonably good canned coffee, which is apparently a hard bar to hit. If you look at the other bestsellers in this category this one is #13 at the time of writing, but just simply is better. I'll explain.Take the Starbucks one at the top of the category. No matter what I've tried, it tastes way too bitter, and some have artificial sweeteners, which I don't like. I think the Starbucks vanilla frappuccino ones are probably the best ones, and they have too much sugar for me. Coldbrew in a bottle is probably fine, but I'd need to have cream on hand for it.Other products, such as the La Columbe product relies upon flavoring to taste good and can come separate in transit so you get a chunky product when it's time to drink it. Products such as the Super Coffee, Rise or Califia don't have milk in them, or at least not in a normal sense. Is this the best coffee you're going to ever drink? Absolutely not. Is it good for being able to reach into your fridge and drink some coffee with no effort? I wouldn't buy it if I didn't think so.For the longest time, it wasn't really imported into the US, but it looks like Suntory decided to do that in the last year or so. I'm glad they did. I used to import these (https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B0090W0S06) from Japan, and it was a bit of a hassle, even if they only cost around 70¢ a can if you're in Japan to the $2.75/can they cost on Amazon. The price is roughly the same if you work that out.My hope is that the price comes down a bit after they get more economy of scale and distribution in the US because the current pricing is roughly what it is to ship it in small quantities on my own.

Reviewed in the United States on August 15, 2020
This stuff tastes awesome. It’s made in Japan and tastes the same to me as the ones purchased there. I would seriously doubt they’d make two, slightly different, tasting drinks when I’m sure they’re made in the same place as the drinks sold there. For me these are best served and tasting when they’re ice cold. I think the colder they are the more the coffee taste comes through. I definitely prefer these over Sbux canned coffees. Some have had packaging issues I guess, but mine came in a tightly sealed box of 12 with cardboard dividers between the cans and they were all perfect. Not sure if some had issues with the delivery people dropping them or just inadvertent bumps during the shipping process to get some denting on the cans. I’ve only purchased these once so far here in the States, but it also came in a large box with a 12 pack of Ito En iced tea so that may have helped with having no damaged cans. I’ve added some pics of how mine came. Enjoy!
