From the manufacturer
Places extra shells right where you need them for a fast reload!
The patented TacStar Sidesaddle mounts 6 extra rounds on your shotgun in a convenient and accessible location for fast reloading. The tough, weatherproof shell carrier is attached to an aluminum mounting plate that installs directly on the shotgun receiver. All mounting screws are included, no gunsmithing required. Installation is easy, and in most cases requires no alterations to the shotgun.
Please Note: Some field grade shotguns may require a modification to the shotgun's forend. Shotguns using the TacStar pistol grip forend do not require modification. The 4-round sidesaddle will also work smoothly with all models without modification. Also works great as a separate Shotshell Storage Caddy for Duck Blind, Boat or Hunting Cabin!

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

The mounting plate for the carrier has two holes. One is for the front screw in the action and the second hole is for the longer trigger assembly bolt. That second hole is threaded, meaning that when you put the longer bolt in, you screw it into the mounting plate. Therefore, there are actually two attachment points for the carrier to the receiver.
Blue loctite is a great idea, however, and I fully support that. I may still go get an additional nut for the longer bolt if I'm looking for something to do later on, but the bottom line is I don't think it's needed. If you do, great - get the additional nut. I'm not casting dispersions here or saying anyone is wrong. Merely that the carrier I received had two, not one, attachment points.
The plastic carrier itself was a little curved so you had to press down once you attached one end so that the other end's holes would align. The end side screws threaded immediately. The middle ones needed a little persuasion to get the threaded shaft aligned with the holes, but they eventually went in ok.
I have NOT used the gun since I installed it, so perhaps the ratings change if after 10 rounds the thing is rattling around loose. Based on other reviews, however, I don't expect that to be the case. All in all I have a 6 shot carrier on the receiver, a bandolier shoulder strap, and a full magazine, so I'm pretty loaded up if I ever need it. Good value for money and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it or buy another one.
I had already installed a tactical forend from Mossberg to go with my Mesa Leo buttstock, so forend clearance was not a problem for me. Before writing this review I did lay my gun on its side and measure the clearance - were the OEM wood forend still installed, and it indeed would have failed to pump after installing this sidesaddle, had I not already replaced my field type (wooden) forend with a shorter (tactical) forend.
I also had already watched a couple of videos on how to install these sidesaddles onto Mossberg shotguns, so when it arrived, (which, BTW, was lightening fast on ship and delivery), I just opened the box, whipped out my little Mossberg, and bolted this little baby on... AND YES, to you Mossberg 535 owners, this little sidesaddle fits perfectly onto your gun without any modification whatsoever, assuming you have a shorter forend than a field type of forend installed. (That being said, my Mesa Tactical Leo buttstock also did not advertise to fit my Mossberg 535, but it fit just fine as well, and without modification at all; I just ordered a buttstock for the 500).
If you have a forend issue, and you want to get a tactical forend, you don't have to spend $60 for a whole forend assembly, as has been stated in some online videos about forends. You can call Mossberg and order just the plastic forend piece. You just need an AR wrench to install it, or else you can watch an online video and install it the hard way by disassembling your weapon (which only takes about ten minutes anyway - and is a good exercise for any Mossberg gun owner). Lucky for me, my Mesa Tactical Leo buttstock came with an AR wrench, so swapping mine out is a breeze. I got a black tactical plastic forend shipped from Mossberg, just the plastic - without the rails, for about $22 or so, including shipping ... last year.
If you already bought one of these and are disenchanted about the forend issue, just remember... this thing is a Tacstar brand, hence "tactical." It is meant to be used on tactical weapons, so if you bought it by mistake, don't blame the manufacturer for simply selling their "tactical" product. Although mine is a tactical style weapon (now) with all of its mods, it is just another big pig gun to me. I had always wanted a good slug gun (hence I got ahold of a "new old stock" rifled barrel with scope for my 535 ATS last summer in an online auction) for pig hunting, and now I have one that looks as lean and mean as it is.
Install was easy, however if you install it on a Mossberg 835 you'll need to have a small forend not a "field forend". You can tell which one you have if your forend overlaps the receiver when fully racked back. (Basically the larger forend will end up hitting the sidesaddle.) If you have the larger forend you can either change it to one that does not overlap like I did or get the Tacstar 4-Shot Shell Carrier Mossberg 500, 590 & 600 Side Saddle (12 Gauge) instead (actually, based on reviews, that may not work either, not sure.)
Aside from that note of caution, the shells fit snugly and the saddle feels well built. Use thread lock on all the screws.
Shotgun Specs:

18.5" Barrel with heat shield
Choate 1 shot magazine extension
HOGUE shotgun stock, O.M. series soft rubber over molded stock
Tacstar Sidesaddle Fits Mossberg 500, 590 and 590Da
LED WeaponLight for Mossberg 500 w/14" Bbl or 6 3/4" Forend Tube
Truglo Long Bead Fiber Optic Sight Universal Green (I have trouble seeing this over the heatshield, I'm still looking for a better option.)
Sightmark SM26008 Ultra Shot Plus Red Dot Sights (Haven't used it yet. Hopefully temporary as I'd prefer normal sights on a shotty. It's rated for a .50 cal so it should work fine.)

Definitely better than the cheaper ones on eBay,
But why would you want to put something cheap on your expensive gun?
Fitted mine to a mossberg 500 field,
Due to the forend overlapping the receiver when racked back you will need to modify it so it doesn’t foul the saddle, or replace your forend with one that finishes flush with the receiver,
I’m changing mine so had no problem purchasing this side saddle
