About this item
- 100% ITALIAN TOMATOES: Mutti sun-ripened San Marzano tomatoes are grown in the Italian Argo Sarnese Nocerino region, between Napes and Salerno, and produced in accordance with all consortium guidelines so that they can feature its official seal. They are harvested when perfectly ripe, then quickly preserved to retain their fresh taste and packed in their own juice.
- REMARKABLY FRESH FLAVOR: These canned whole peeled tomatoes are the highest quality with no GMOs, additives, or preservatives, which helps them break down quickly when cooked. They are carefully packed into non-BPA cans to preserve their fresh taste.
- GENUINE SAN MARZANO: These canned peeled San Marzano tomatoes are the genuine article – fleshy fruit that maintains a dense texture and slightly acidic flavor from the volcanic soil. Perfect for pasta sauce and any other recipes that require whole-peeled tomatoes.
- VEGAN FRIENDLY & GLUTEN FREE: Mutti San Marzano Tomatoes are a vegan and gluten-free food. Made with natural goodness, you can see and taste a difference in these delicious, canned tomatoes.
- SUSTAINABLY GROWN: From Italy’s #1 tomato brand. Since 1899, the Mutti family has shared its passion for Italian tomatoes and preserving one of nature’s perfect gifts at the peak of ripeness. Mutti has partnered with WWF in Italy for over 20 years to reduce water consumption and its carbon footprint.

What makes our products unique?
Our patented technique captures the vibrant flavor and color of just harvested tomatoes.
We process our tomatoes just a few hours after harvesting right near the field where they've grown. This preserves their quality and the fresh taste of the Italian summer.
Our deep relationships with Mutti farmers are built on partnership and collaboration - working together to choose the best tomato variety for the soil, respecting a four-year crop rotation system, and following integrated production regulations.
All of our products are vegan, non-BPA, gluten free, and Non GMO Verified.

How did we get our start?
In 1850 Giovanni Mutti was a farmer ahead of his time in his use of the sidereal system, which still used today in organic farming. It takes into account the influence of the sun and the moon on plant cultivation, after many experiments, Giovanni managed to innovate by applying the crop rotation technique, which allows the soil to recover its nutrients while cutting down on the need for natural and chemical fertilizers.
in 1899, Giovanni's nephews, Marcellino and Callisto Mutti founded the Fratelli Mutti company as the family's farming tradition began shifting towards manufacturing.
In 1909, Ugo Mutti designed a process to produce tomato extract called "conserva nera" -a forerunner of modern tomato concentrate.

I recommend you check the cans' labels when you receive them. These D.O.P. San Marzano versions are twice the price of the same brand's similar Italian Tomatoes, so they are ripe for vendors to, "accidentally" send the incorrect less expensive version. Food items aren't eligible for returns on Amazon, so it's not very easy to get that corrected.
If you receive the right ones, they're just what you want. Good as competing brands and in the harder to find 14oz size.
So let's start of by saying these are good, better than Cento, in my opinion. The problem is that you get 6 14oz cans while you can literally get 6 28oz cans for less or a couple of dollars extra. Mind you these are double the weight compared to the smaller Muti.
I really like Muti, especially their passata, but I can't excuse how expensive these are. I understand that these aren't being sold by Muti as well, so I can't entirely blame them. You can find other DOP and the official seal of PSMDASN (Pomodoro San Marzano Dell'Agro Sarnese-Nocerino) from other brands.
These are sweet, but not as sweet as the sauce I've tried in Neapolitan pizzerias around my city. Very little acidic tang to it. They crush easily. They weren't too watery or too thick. The cans say they only last 5 days in the fridge after opening.
Would I buy again? Maybe if the price drops and they're being sold by Muti or Amazon and not a 3rd party seller. But for now I'll continue trying the other brands with DOP and PSMDASN seal. I'll probably try California grown San Marzano style tomatoes before I try these small cans again.
