5.0 out of 5 stars One fantastic field knife indeed!
Reviewed in the United States on October 9, 2012
I ordered this knife (got it on sale here at Amazon for less than $120, shipped) on 21 Sep, and got it in plenty of time to test it out at home prior to my 2 day/2 night camp out. I must say, I'm VERY impressed with the TOPS BoB Fieldcraft - quality of workmanship, design, and function are all 5 stars as far as I'm concerned. I've used it to shave wood for tinder, for batoning wood for kindling, whittling sticks down, etc. and it's held its edge (I've just cleaned it and stropped it afterwards).

The knife has some heft to it - 9 plus ounces unsheathed, almost 14 ounces sheathed, so I feel the weight when carrying it. (I had been using a Mora "Light My Fire" firesteel knife, which is a hair under 4 ounces, sheathed).

It comes with its own firesteel/magnesium rod, and an emergency whistle (which I've strapped on to the sheath using "ranger bands")...I'll post a couple of pictures on this site, if I'm allowed). It really *can* be used as its own basic mini-survival kit.

Bottom line - I'm one happy camper (no pun intended). I expect it to last a lifetime and beyond.
