Product Description
The juice fountain crush uses a single auger slow juicing system. Juice hard and soft fruits and vegetables, including leafy greens like kale and spinach.
Nutrients in the juice, fiber in the pulp
Centrifugal juicers get the job done quickly, but what if you want your juice smooth with some pulp ? That’s where masticating juicers come in. Also known as slow juicers or single auger juicers, they crush and squeeze rather than shredding. That means that it maximizes the amount of nutrients extracted and more of the fiber stays in, making for a delicious glass of thick, smooth juice.
Why choose a slow juicer?
There are two main types of juicer: centrifugal juicers and slow (or masticating) juicers. Centrifugal juicers work by shredding the fruits and vegetables and then spinning at a high speed to separate the pulp and juice. Slow or masticating juicers crush and grind the fruits and vegetables to extract the juice, then filter out the pulp. They're called slow juicers because they don't spin rapidly, not because it takes a long time to make juice; it only takes minutes to produce juice! Slow juicers produce drier pulp than centrifugal juicers, and extract more juice from leafy greens like kale. Some people have a preference from juice from a slow juicer, since it tends to be less frothy and more thick.
Versatility for maximum yield and results
Masticating juicers are best at juicing softer fruits like berries and wheatgrass and excel at juicing leafy greens, but can also juice harder fruits and vegetables like apples and carrots. Because the Juice Fountain Crush juices slowly, it keeps more of the fiber and less of the froth in the juice and produces very dry pulp.
Juicing made simple
The Juice Fountain Crush makes juicing and cleanup easy. With features like a safe start system that requires all parts to be locked in before the juicer starts, reverse direction control, and an overload protection system that automatically stops the machine from operating when the load is too high, the Juice Fountain Crush makes operation safe and easy. To cleanup and flush out the system between making different kinds of juice without having to disassemble the entire machine, simply pour in 1-2 cups of water while the motor is running to flush the previous ingredients through. It comes with a cleaning brush to remove the pulp from the mesh basket, and the handle of the brush is the perfect size to clear out the pulp chute of the juicer. And, even though it’s powerful, the Juice Fountain Crush’s 240 watt motor runs quietly so your morning glass of juice won’t wake the rest of the household.
Designed with the consumer in mind
The upright design gives the Juice Fountain Crush a smaller footprint than horizontal masticating juicers, making it easier to fit on your counters. It includes a juicing jug for catching the juice that’s extracted, a pulp bin for the pulp, and also includes a filter cleaning brush, which can be used for brushing out the filter or (using the smaller end of the brush) cleaning the pulp out of any crevasses.

First prepare the fruits you want to use, clean them and cut them into pieces (you cannot use an entire apple for example, it has to be into quarters) if your fruits are bio just wash them carefully and do not peel them! It would have been great to have a mini book with recipes ideas from Breville but it is ok! I did not put any leaves like kale, etc. but it is possible! At least this juicer is very efficient as the pulp is completely dry! Even if it is a slow masticating (and consequently better than another kind of juicer) it is not that slow to make a juice, a few minutes and you can enjoy the fruit of your labor! It takes nothing really, even to clean!
Great product for whoever loves home made fruit juices, natural and healthy (no sugar or corn syrup!)
Take season fruits so it costs less money, but remember to extract seeds, etc or you could damage the appliance and prepare your fruits before switching on!!! Never put the fruits before the engine is on, and switch it off when you do not have fruits anymore and once you have poured a glass of water to rince the appliance! The engine is 240 W and warrantee= 10 years. Remember to umplug when you take the accessories off (filter, screw, etc.)
Enjoy, it is a great great purchase for everybody!!!
Folks..if you have this juicer, and are having problems with the auger getting stuck...clean the little white gear inside of the juicing bowl. Juice will get underneath the little gear, and make the gear not move freely. The gear is held in with a screw..take it out and clean the gear and the bowl where it sits. When you put it back, don't tighten the screw too tight..allow the gear to spin easily. The auger will not get stuck on anymore. At the most, you will have to hold onto the auger and wiggle it a little. It and the bowl will come up easily. I have had this juicer over a year..and it is still going strong. I cut up my veggies so they are not too thick, which can make it jam. I can put in whole celery stalks..but I cut up hard veggies such as carrot into strips. Just a little bit of preparation and you will have problem-free juicing. Clean-up time is not an issue. I can take it apart and clean it in the same time it took me to clean the Breville centrifugal juicer I had previously.
So..keep the gear in the juicing bowl clean and moving freely. Cut up your hard veggies so it won't jam. Doing these things will keep your happily juicing!
I had the Breville centrifugal juicer, and wanted to upgrade to a masticating type. This juicer is wonderful! I like that it's vertical, which allows me to fill a larger pitcher making two glasses at once if needed. It's easy enough to clean, even though there are more parts than the centrifugal juicer. No problems with it being too noisy, and cutting the veggies into smaller pieces to accommodate the smaller chute, doesn't take much more time than cutting the veggies for the other juicer. The pulp waste is less, especially less weight since there is more juice extracted. We don't have a use for the pulp, so it's thrown away, but the trash bags are lighter in weight after a week's worth of juicing which is a plus!
I highly recommend this Breville juicer. I use it twice, sometimes three times a day, and I love it!
Added comments: We have had the juicer for a week, now. Like it so much more than the centrifugal juicer. It's easier to clean, because the screen where the juice is pushed through has larger holes than the fine screen in the centrifugal type juicer. Plus, no more worry about scraping knuckles on blades. The quality of juice is much improved...giving you some pulp and not just liquid. If you are looking for a juicer for the first time, I highly recommend you get a masticating juicer from the get-go, so you won't have to upgrade later on. There is enough of a difference between the two types, to make it worth your while to get this one from the start. Just the fact that the juicer is healthier for you, from this type of juicer...should be a factor in the decision. When using a centrifugal juicer, the basket with blades spins at a high speed, creating heat. The heat will kill enzymes in the juice, something you don't want to happen..plus it forces air into the juice, which you don't want to happen as well. If you are saving an extra glass for later, oxygenated juice won't last as long in the fridge. Juice from a masticating type lasts longer when stored in an airtight container. One last thing...if you want to juice leafy greens, a masticating juicer can't be beat. The other kind will mostly throw the leafy greens into the pulp bin, forcing you to "re-juice" the pulp in an attempt to get some juice out of them. It can be a huge money-waster to push the greens into the chute only to have them spit right back out again. The masticating juicer will get the juice out, and you never need to re-juice the pulp.
A tip: when you are juicing celery, the "strings" can cause problems with plugging up the works. Juice some cut up celery, then put in a harder veggie like carrot or squash. It helps to clear out the stringy parts of the celery, before you add more of it.
If you are looking to improve your health through green juicing, using a juicer such as the Breville Fountain Crush Masticating Slwo Juicer is a great way to start!
Aug. 19,2013 More added comments: Having had this juicer for awhile, I would still buy it again. The only new issue that has come up is that the small white gear inside the bowl of the juicer which is held in by a small screw, can cause the auger to become stuck on if the gear gets juice underneath it making it difficult to turn. I have found, that if I take the small gear out and clean it and underneath it in the bowl every so often, that the auger/bowl/basket can be removed without a problem. If the white plastic gear is kept clean so it can move freely, there is no longer an issue of the auger part getting stuck on the juicer.
I have used this juicer every week since we bought it...sometimes two or more times a week. It has always worked just fine.
One last thing, if you get an auger type juicer like this one, one thing you will find is that when you are finished juicing, and you take the juicer apart to clean it...you will see that there will be ground up vegetables in the deep ridges of the auger left behind. The only way to clear out the auger is by running water alone thru the machine, which can help in the cleaning process.
Top reviews from other countries
JE98XL Two-Speed Juice Fountain Plus:
*We primarily use this on fruity drinks, or morning drinks when we don't want to spend too long juicing before work.
* Super fast, grinds down fruits and veggies in seconds
*Large shoot - hardly any prep needed except peeling some fruits
*Super easy to clean
*Blade lasts about a month if your doing 5-6 juices a day (for a cleanse) and then the juices get pulpy. Replacement costs $38 from Breville, plus shipping.
*Can be annoying to empty pulp collector in the middle of juicing if it gets full (with 2 juices)
*Decently quiet, but not as quiet as the Fountain Crush
JS600XL Juice Fountain Crush, Slow Juicer:
*Need to cut celery into slices, otherwise it will clog the pulp shoot. Then put in an apple or cucumber to help flush out the stringy celery pulp.
*Other fruits and veggies need to be cut as well so that its not as hard on the machine (we cut cucumber into 4 long strips, apples into slices, oranges/lemons in half etc.)
*Little longer to clean, but still very simple and fairly quick. Sometimes the pulp shoot takes a bit to get all the pulp out of it.
*Gets a lot more juice out of veggies and less pulp. Fruit drinks (carrot, orange, beet) seem to have more pulp than in the Fountain plus. And quite a bit more fiber (helps amazingly with toddler constipation FYI)
*Don't know how long the blade lasts as we haven't been using this as much, however my husband and I will both be doing juice cleanses soon and I'm sure we'll find out. Blade, filter basket is much more expensive at $155.
*Can run water through it to do different juices and not cross flavors
*If you juice 2 drinks in a row, 2nd drink is fairly pulpy unless you take apart the machine and clean the blade/filter
*Easy to empty pulp bin in between juices
*reversible speed to unclog if food gets stuck - we used this at first but don't have to now that we know the type of prep for each food to make it easier on the machine.
*Super quiet
Overall, I prefer the Fountain Plus. Both highly recommended and I am very happy with my purchases.
Cleaning it isn't pretty easy, too. Just like any other juicers I've known, it has several parts to it. However, they're pretty easy to disassemble and clean. Usually I just put them in warm soapy water after juicing, and after enjoying my juice, I clean and rinse the juicer. Takes around 15 minutes to do, which I don't mind doing at all.
Another plus is, it is very quiet when juicing, which is good for me since I juice in the morning when my roommate is still asleep. So I won't wake anyone up by loud noises.
I would recommend this to anyone that's committed to juicing. It juices effectively, quiet, and easy to clean.
Words of advice:
Loosen the white gear at the bottom of the main clear juicer bowl. Occasionally unscrew and clean it.
When done using, don't bother trying to pull the auger out, just detach the entire main clear bowl. The auger will just fall out.
Beets are rock solid and will try to kill this machine. Cut them smaller and feed them though slowly.
Anything stringy cut smaller. (Leafy greens, celery, ect . . .)
Feed things in slow and steady. The machine is reasonably quick but not that quick.
Learn what order to process your fruits/veggies in to get the best juice without overtaxing the juicer.
Leave your sink full of water so you can just dump everything in there right after juicing. This way if you don't clean up right away, you won't have the nightmare of trying to clean it later after everything hardens to the point you destroy your beloved juicer out of frustration.
Happy juicing.
PS. I have only reversed this machine twice. Both times because of beets. Seriously, cut them smaller and feed them through slow and maybe even in between other veggies.
