It’s easy to use and easy to clean. In all honestly I've not put unpeeled garlic cloves through it. Seems ridiculous in my mind. After over 40 years of serious cooking I can’t imagine a garlic peel in a press that wouldn’t block the crushed garlic from coming through the holes. Seriously, I’m not so lazy that I can’t peel garlic before crushing it in a press.
Good grief.
I just want a good solid, well made garlic press that’s easy to clean, won’t fall apart in five years, can put through a dishwasher without discoloring like a cheap Chinese aluminum imitation one (been there, done that), etc.
This fits the bill. I’m happy with it.
Almost-perfect solid construction and materials
Super easy cleaning with no special tools required
Cons
Pinches palm at full press
June 2020: still works like brand new after 6 years of service. I've been using it anywhere from 1x to 4x per month to press garlic. That pinching handle still annoys but liveable.
Now a bit of supplemental explanation about the pros and cons....
Pro
What i thought was a design flaw about the design may well have been a clever part of the design--the 1mm space between the two pressing surfaces at full press leaves a thin film of garlic material. Initially i thought its wasteful and thus could be a defect but after a few uses, i realized having a thin film residue actually makes cleaning easier because peeling this film lifts away with it the garlic remnants that are still lodged in the little press holes. Thus, this makes it unnecssary to use a brush or any other special tool to clean like other presses.
Con
Only one, thats right. At full press, the two handles join together completely similar to an animal bite, thus, it tends to pinch the palm of your hand....not overly painful but annoying. (See attached fotos). If the two handles left 0.5-1" of space in between at full press, then that would have avoided this problem. I would have given it 5 stars then.

Only thing is that it doesn't come with a silicon peeler. Without the peeler you can still press, but you have to take the skin off every press (doesn't get in final product. Stays in the pressing compartment) so that the garlic clove skin doesn't build up. Skin build up causes a difficult press and also garlic spreading out from the sides. Will adjust my review after doing more research if it does prove that it does this with all garlic.
Cleaning out is easy buy flipping the handle and the grater out. Rinse out and it gets really clean. Stainless steel also cleans your hands of the garlic smell like a stainless steel bar of soap would. Double win.
Parents love it. Since they have older hands, the shape and leverage makes it easy for them to have fresh press fine garlic bits and no jarlic from the fridge.
