From the manufacturer
The Homeowner's Favorite Manifold System
Manifold construction hassles are a thing of the past. Orbit preassembled manifolds take the pain and guesswork out of this vital part of a sprinkler system.
Save Time - Installs in Minutes with No Tools Required
Compared to using single valves, the Orbit preassembled manifolds can be installed in a fraction of the time. Available in two- or three-valve versions, each manifold is built with durable, UV-resistant high impact plastic for long-term durability. Perhaps the greatest strength is in the ease of use. The removable couplings are huge time-savers for installations and repairs, but also if you find yourself having to add a valve station. Simply twist and tighten and you’re ready to go. No glue, no fumes, no mess, and no waiting for glue to dry.
For More Time Savings
When installing the Orbit preassembled manifold, use the Orbit Valve Box Platform (53230). Both are designed to keep your valve box organized, clean, and easier to work on. If you find yourself adding onto an existing pre-assembled manifold, use the Orbit Heavy Duty Swivel Double Union Coupler (57184). There are no tools required for add-ons; simply hand-tighten each side and you’re set!
Make Your Work Easier
Each manifold includes our time tested jar-top valves with wired solenoids already attached. All connections are made with threaded joints. No tools required: just tighten by hand and you’ve got a leak-proof seal. Manifolds are fully assembled; simply double-check everything is hand-tightened and you’re ready to go.
- Works with both 3/4 and 1” systems (both poly and PVC pipe) with no extra couplers to buy.
- Need more valves? Combine two dual-valve manifolds to make a four-valve manifold, which fits perfectly in the Orbit Valve Platform as well as standard valve boxes.

Product Description
Traditional valve manifolds are constructed with glued PVC or threaded Schedule 80 risers and are very difficult to service. The heavy-duty pre-assembled valve manifold is a fully engineered and assembled single or multi-zone valve system which provides optimum serviceability. The pre-assembled manifold has special swivel unions which create a secure, watertight seal against each manifold component and the valves. If you ever need to add a valve or replace a valve, the procedure is as simple as unthreading the swivel, sliding it back, and adding or replacing the valve. The process of adding a drip filter and pressure regulator is equally simple. The valves are premium L-Series valves with internal-bleed, 24 VAC solenoids which are compatible with controllers from Orbit, Hydro-Rain, and other major brands. A wide variety of additional manifold fittings can be purchased separately. For a professional-quality manifold installation, mount the preassembled manifold on the valve box base with a standard valve box covering it. For outdoor irrigation use with cold water only.

The 4 valve manifold is really 2 dual manifold systems. Two of the 4 are very loud when activated. But I'm not concerned, cause if they fail my local Lowes carries the solenoid, diaphragm, and entire valve.
Great product that makes DIY irrigation easy. Only thing I'd recommend is going with Blu-Lock instead of hoses. Had I done that, I'd have saved $200.

Install was pretty easy, sloppy wiring was also pretty easy. They don’t call this out very clearly but most timers don’t have the same number of common plugs as they do zone control plugs so you will need to jumper the common wires at the header.
The instructions could be a little more clear on what turning the solenoid does. For total manual operation you can turn the solenoid counterclockwise. Doing so turns the water on with no timer control. To be clear turning this valve to off puts the valve under the control of the timer and does not turn the valve totally off.
The soleniod is where my leak problem was happening. The soleniod screws right in to the valve which is what a pilot operated soleniod would do but there is no shelf inside the valve body to provide a flat surface for the o-ring to seat too. This leaves the start of the threading as an open gap with hopes that the o-ring can stop water flow. Tightening the soleniod all the way only makes the leak go from a drip to many drips per minute. With that said only one of the six are dripping. It seems like some thread tape is solving this but if you were to use the manual mode of twisting the soleniod that would bring the leak right back.
Last comment, don’t forget the part in the instructions where it has you manually operate the valve to purge the air before trying auto controls. This helps clear air out of the pilot valve and also the downstream to prevent later water hammer and calm down some of the hum from the soleniod.

If I had been installing this for a new installation, it would have been a piece of cake; starting from the manifold and installing outward insures the proper alignment and is easier to work things to fit your layout.
Electrical connections to your irrigation controller is easy too.
