This phone is a true flagship with flagship level pricing. But I believe you will get value for money if it has been spent without much pain😁.
Without going in to too much details already mentioned in reviews all over the internet, let me point out what makes this a valuable purchase and how it compares to other flagships and flagship killers.
Build quality: not a big fan of glass bodies but that's the trend in flagships. Looks are elegant and premium but you need to put a case which is sad. Weight balance is really good and there is no problem in one handed use if you have average hand size. Not for small hands. Thing which is important to note is that the width (73.7 mm) and thickness (7.8 mm) of the phone is very comfortable to hold in one hand without loosing grip. Had it been wider this would have been difficult to handle.
Camera: Great camera with excellent low light sensitivity. Picture quality is very good for every day use and social media sharing. Whatever people may nitpick will not be noticed in everyday use and especially if you take some time to plan the scene setup and angle. Photography is an art and the good camera needs a good artist too. As can be seen in most reviews, the camera compares well to all flagship competitors.
Software: Samsung has recently announced guaranteed 3 year android upgrades which is a step in the right direction and commendable. Adds value to the purchase. Regarding OneUI 2.1 this is a great software skin and leaps ahead of the old touchwiz. There is absolutely no lag and it is butter smooth especially with the 120Hz samsung flagship display which of course needs no introduction.
The software features and additional proprietary apps which samsung provides with the phone adds great value to the phone in my opinion. This is what most people may not notice although some features are too gimmicky. There are so many possible customizations within the software to give complete control over your experience and needs. This is where some other flagship phones actually differ. They do provide a smooth near stock android experience, but this also means they can't compare with the customizations that samsung offers. This has to be seen to be believed. Some great features which add value in a Samsung flagship include Samsung Knox, Samsung Pay and Samsung Dex. Other flagships and killers may be cheap but do they provide such enterprise experience? So the decision comes down to your usage, choice and budget. You get what you pay for.
Processor: There has been lot of debate on Samsung refusing to provide Snapdragon processors in the Indian and European markets. There are many comparisons online showing difference in our Exynos chipset compared to Snapdragon. But let it be assured that all differences are on paper and in test labs. If you don't keep the Snapdragon variant side by side, you won't notice any difference. Have been using it quite heavily since 2 weeks and I found no issue or lag which may have made me regret. Regarding heating issue, I did notice it when i used right after opening the box. But immediately i got some software updates, and now there is absolutely no heating issue. It does get warm on resource intensive apps, but it is nowhere near to uncomfortable. Samsung has taken the right steps to resolve most of the issues in multiple software updates.
Battery: This battery with 4500 mah is a beast for most users. And it just about lasts my entire day with moderate use. I am charging it fully mostly only at night, sometimes once in daytime for short boosts when using intensive apps. Overall satisfied with the battery life.
Cons: Nothing much, except I wish the fingerprint reader was a bit snappier. It is just a bit slow to recognize and unlock and we have to get used to it. Its a different technology and supposedly more secure.
All in all a good buy if the price doesn’t bother you too much.
