Bond technical support was fantastic - almost to the point of annoying. I called in for help on day 1 and got a live tech right away. He really knew his stuff. Almost like I was talking to Tier 2 tech support (or maybe the guy who screws these things together?) but my phone died during the call and I had to head south for the winter the next morning. Bond continued to follow up with email and phone calls for weeks. I've never had... well... aggressive tech support so insistent on solving my problem. So props for that guys!
One issue that didn't work initially was Alexa support for device groups. I have two fans in my media room and I've put them in an Alexa group called FANS. Bond through Alexa didn't work properly. Only the first fan in the group would turn on. Tech support said they were working on that issue and I haven't tested it again. I'll give it a shot in December and follow up with an update.
Possibly best feature of the Bond? It's got what sort of looks like a blue pyramid inside a glass display if you look down on the top of it. The pyramid looks like it's about 4 or 5" tall. But if you look at the bond from the side it's only about 2" tall. How cool is that?
Just better and better with Bond. Love it. 5 stars now.

Setup was probably the trickiest part. Plugging it in and getting it connected to WiFi was easy. Getting the remote buttons to match up with the functions I wanted, however, was less easy. The app's auto-mapping to your remote kind of worked, but it took many tries before I got it the way I wanted, without a bunch of extra duplicated commands and settings that didn't actually exist. Both fans I linked up have multiple fan settings and an "up" light and a "down" light...I never managed to get both up and down lights set up, and I could never figure out how to rename "light" to something that was more descriptive. After about 10 minutes of fighting with the setup, I could set fan speeds and turn one light on and off. The setup gets 2 stars. I was successful, but it was frustrating and I'm still bummed about only having one light working.
Next, I tried to link the Bond with Alexa. That was another exercise in frustration, because it took forever for Alexa to recognize and link up correctly, and to this day I can only tell her to set fan speeds in percentages - "Set fan to 33%" is the equivalent of "low." Why I can't just say low, or speed 1, I don't know. I also find that about 1 out of 5 times, my Echo Dot claims it doesn't know what I'm talking about. That seems to be Alexa in general, though, which is why we switched to google home with the exception of our one remaining Echo Dot.
Finally, I linked the Bond with Google Assistant and Google Home. In comparison, this was fast, easy, and it works really well. There were no hiccups, I assigned rooms quickly, and it never has the issues Alexa does. We have a few google home minis scattered around the house, and they all can command the fans with no issue. The commands are also much easier than Alexa, I can ask for high, medium, low; speed 1, 2, or 3; or even use Beaufort wind scale "gentle breeze" up to "hurricane force," which is just fun to do.
As for performance, I have the Bond in my bedroom, near one fan. The second fan is about 25 feet away in a different room. I've never had any connectivity issues, it always commands the fans perfectly. The app is acceptable, and I put the widget on my home screen and that works well too.
Overall, setup took about 30 minutes and was more frustrating than I thought it should be, however now that it is set up it works great and I'd recommend it to anyone who asks.
Pros:
- Range of the RF blaster is very good, better than the competition.
- Direct integration with the most populars smart home platform (Alexa, Google Home, Smartthings, Homekit)
- Simple enough interface if you wish to use the app
- Frequent firmware updates that add functionality and solve any issue.
Cons:
- IR blaster can be better, sometimes it misses the command when other similar products have no problem. You have to position the bridge at a certain distance from the IR fan for it to work (and it misses sometimes)
- it's a little on the pricier side
- The database of types of controllers is limited on the IR side, I try to add an IR fan to the bridge, it learned the buttons but it couldn't control the fan.
Overall: superb RF controller, and decent but not good enough IR controller.
