What would you do if you were sitting quietly in your living room when a mysterious couple appeared from out of nowhere—and then told you they were "ascended masters" who had come to reveal some shocking secrets of existence and teach you the miraculous powers of advanced forgiveness? When two such teachers appeared before Gary Renard in 1992, he chose to listen to them (and ask a lot of impertinent questions). The result is this startling book: an extraordinary record of 17 mind-bending conversations that took place over nearly a decade, reorienting the author’s life and giving the world an uncompromising introduction to a spiritual teaching destined to change human history.

Reading A Course in Miracles (ACIM) is coming home,it feels nothing short of divine intervention, it makes sense and it sets you free. When I started reading it, I would randomly start tearing up without knowing why, just I felt so moved and liberated by its words but I couldn't synthesize the overall message quickly enough and after some research I found The Dissaperance of Universe (DU). DU is compelling enough to really thrust you into the ACIM side effects (for example, when reading I started having crazy gore nightmares that were very strange because they didn't scare me at all yet were horrific, just to read an explanation for them in the book two nights after they started, at another time a white dove landed next to me while I was reading on a terrace in a place where I vacationed for about five days and I never saw a single dove or pigeon before or after, something I took to be a symbol of the Holy Spirit and overall I feel the energies around me have been shifting in a positive way). I felt every question I had while reading DU was immediately answered and explained to me in the book, it felt like I myself was conversing with the ascended masters. I also really enjoyed the side stories about the life of Jesus and the future. The course and this book have given me perspective and tranquility, it feels like tension started disappearing, the mind is projecting fewer painful experiences as it is forgiving. If you are looking to cope with anxiety from toxic situations or just need help breaking a negative thought or behavior pattern, you may find the philosophy of this book helpful. I also noticed a reduction in negative and irritating situations - in equal parts due to me not being emotionally affected by situations (something that seemed impossible before) but also others acting in less disruptive manner around me. Despite being an avid reader, I could never get through any self-help or perception adjustment books in my life, and I don't enjoy religious texts as I am an atheist (well, was an atheist before reading the book), yet for some reason I couldn't put this book down. I now also bought it for my parents and I definitely plan on re-reading it. I still have questions and a lot of learning and healing ahead of me, but this has been a great start.

Im not through the book just yet, it does take a long time to read as it is about 400 pages, although i read the first 200 when i first purchased this book.

Before I continue with my review, let me say this, I will NEVER be the same again. And the book says, once you know HOW to forgive, you will NEVER be the same again.

Life has changed for me, and of course for the better.

Please note, i am an avid reader and i have not ONCE written a review, EVER, this is my first one. When I write in capitals, I place extreme importance on that word.

Here's how I came across this book. Just last weekend, i broke down as I looked at my life, and realized that NOTHING was teh way that I had intended or wanted it to be. Certainly there were and are manyyyyyyyyyyyyy many things that I am ever so greatful for. Still, I was not truly happy.

No matter how kind, how wonderful i was, how much i networked, how much money i had how many friends i had who loved me, parents who loved and supported me, something was still not right. And as the book explains its our beleif that we are seperate from God that makes us feel that way, and ONLY will our return to him fill that ache that is sooo deep.

I came to the realiztion that NOTHING in this world could bring me true happiness. Nothing! This can also be scary because once you realize that nothing of this world can bring you real happiness, there's not much to look forward to. All goals become meaningless dont they? Why would you go after a goal knowing that it will not fulfill you? And it will not fulfill you becuase the things of this world are things of time, and what is of time will eventually fade, it does not last! it is not eternal. because of its changeable nature, we are bound to be hurt by it in some way.

God's love is eternal and it is real. I knew deep in my soul that this is so, and the reason for which i was able to receive this book when i did. I made a mental decision and then believed that nothing of this world could bring me happiness. I didnt or dont deny my existence, but now things are different.

anyway, so like i said, i broke down, i was crying and reaally praying to God for an answer to could help me get back home to him. I really cried from the bottom of my heart and prayed to God. Then this is the thought, (there was no voice or anything) but there was a thought and the thought was A course in miracles.

I had already been a student of ACIM for over 3 years now. I knew what ACIM was. I immediately stopped crying as I felt a sense of peace come over me and knew that I was not alone, as I had always known, but sometimes you need reassurance and this was one of those times for me.

Anyway, i didnt open ACIM, instead I was curious to see the reviews that had been written about it, as ACIM had a tremendous (positive) impact on my life, because it helpd bring me closer to God (of course in reality we can not be closer to God as we are home IN God)

So i went on to Amazon to read some of the reviews, and of course 99% was very positive and inspiring. It made me happy to know that others had also benefited tremendously and found their way home.

Then i came across ONE review that mentioned The Dissapearance of the Universe. The title is what intriugued me. If you ask me i was meant to discover this.

As mentioned ACIM had a tremendous positive impact on my life, still I had not become enlightened (of courser we can not become enlightened, as we are already enlightened) so that is why i didnt open it in the first place after the thought had been placed in my head, but when instead to look at some reviews for inspiration.

ACIM is written very poetically and some parts are hard to underrstand. The Dissapearnace of the Univerese truly helped me to understand sooooooooo many things, especially forgiveness and HOW to forgive. As mentioned previously, in the book it says, once you know HOW to forgive, you will never be the same again.

For the First time in my 25 years, i learned how to forgive. I never really truly heled grudges but there were certain things that I truly did not know HOW to forgive, even when I desperately wanted becasuse i KNew that it would heal me.

This book taught me HOW to forgive, and I will NEVER be the same again. It's been just over a week that I have been reading this, and i can tell you my mind and my heart have already been healed so much. I know this becuase now i look at the world and i laugh, i am ALWAYS smiling, i am laughing everything is soooo beautiful and so precious to me now. I love all and all loves me. Life is wonderful.

Here is what it says about forgivenss, and this is how i learned to forgive.

The world is not real. This is a dream. It is a dream because we are unconcioous. When you are unconcious you do things out of habit, which of course means that you are not doing thigns conciously, which means that you at times do things without event knowing it. We are robots at times becuase of this. Therefoer we are dreaming. and the things good and bad that we do not know we are even doing. Being a robot is almost like being crazy. Could you not forgive a crazy person?

If you knew this how could you not forgive. All those things that seemed to happen, all the bad things that you think you cant forgive people for, you will now learn to forgive them because now you know that they do not know what they are doing. They did not mean to hurt you, they are playing a scrip that is on auto. They do not know. Forgive them for they do not know.

Now i could forgive the world, and i have been healed. Thank you God, Jesus & The Holy Spirit. I love you.

You have healed me. I will never be the same again.

I have seen many things on my journey, i wont discuss them here, its too much.

But i just wanted to share my story, and let you all know that this is the most beautiful journey one can take. I am so pleased and so happy. God loves us all.

I wish you all success in your journey, and remember when God is with you all things are possible. Trust him to lead you home.

Love and blessings to all

I prefer to read Advaita/Non-Dual books and often re-read them. These cover Nisargadatta, Ramana Maharshi, Joan Tollifson, Wu Hsin, Adyashanti, Siddharameshwar, Balsekar, Mooji, Roy Melvyn, P.F Dzuiban, Jeff Foster, Joey Lott etc. Almost 20 yrs ago I was Catholic & Charismatic but that left me wanting. So the search began. I have felt an immense sense of freedom, understanding and love in the Eastern path. The last thing therefore I'da thought is that there would be: 1) a non-dual aspect to the message of Christ and 2) I would find it worthwhile. As you've guessed, by virtue of my writing this review, I was wrong.

I must preface that, I truly believe, the depth of my appreciation and agreement to the message of G.R.R. has been due to many years of non-dual practice (this may not be necessary for other readers though). I recall reading a few chapter of "A Course In Miracles" back in the early 2000's and, though the words made sense, I couldn't connect to it at all. It gathered dust on my shelf, eventually donated. This book refers to ACIM and it's teachings but, in contrast, its succinctness & directness, resonate completely to me. As I'm continuing to read it (59% on Kindle) I've wondered about getting ACIM again. Upon inner reflection & guidance, it seems that for me this isn't necessary at this juncture.

This book is rooted in the axiom: As above, so below. As within, so without. The chaos, hatred, violence, contradictions, sadness, anger etc that I witness, been saddened about, and felt helpless/confused about are but projections which need to be healed fr within. It is all due to a self-imposed and delusional sense of egoic individuality. Just prior to reading this, I had already become aware of this truth slowly rising into my consciousness. Having this message finally solidifies what was a vague knowing/thinking. Thus, based on where I find myself in, this is an extremely empowering, powerful, moving and magical perspective. As an example of its application happened as recently as last night....

My Dad was incredibly ticked off and was venting on my mother due to her misunderstanding of his instructions to her. She was waiting for him for 2 hrs thinking he'd be there to get her. He was waiting for her to call her to let him know she was ready to be picked up at the doctors. Normally I would have proceeded to be triggered by my perception of Dad's seeming insensitivity (lecturing my mother on the phone when she was finally able to call) and impatience. He would also then lecture about idiotic behaviors and people's inability to listen/follow instructions. As I listened to him rant on as we were on our way to my mother & while getting ready to get her, I kept very silent and internally kept thinking of forgiveness for him, for me and for my mother. Forgiveness for all these negative actions, thoughts and feelings all around but specially for him. In the car while he's driving, resumed reading this book, then spontaneously found myself reaching over to him to give his arm a comforting rub. His response was immediate, soft and conciliatory. He shifted dramatically. I was NOT hoping, rooting for that NOR was doing it to manipulate his behavior. It was genuine, I look back now, act/expression of love. By the time we got to the doctor's, I went in to get my mom and, with the same thought inside of me, answered her questions when she asked how come we got there only then. When she got in the car it was as though nothing had happened! This is INCREDIBLE if you knew my parents' patterns!

I've used the same approach at work with my boss a few days ago. WHOA! I didn't know HOW MUCH projection was taking place and forgiveness was needed there until I started applying it. Yikes! Well, as you can imagine, the application of this in EVERYTHING I read, hear, listen to is ENORMOUS (that's an understatement). A line from ACIM has been making me smile as I contemplate it: "Magic is a shift in perception." Goodness gracious, there is infinite magic going on right here, right now.

Anyhow, I'm glad one reviewer recommended this book to a book I was thinking of getting (Jeff Foster). With the application of its message, what I can attest to is that it is effectively, slowly but surely, doing for me as the title says -- the disappearance of the universe. <3

To readers contemplating on whether to get this or not, here's a quote from the book that is originally fr ACIM: "ONLY THE SELF-ACCUSED CONDEMN."....IF you can sense even a whisper of truth in this statement in ALL aspect of life (yours & everyone's), then it may be safe to say you will be grateful for having this book in your life.

A heartfelt and soulfelt love and gratitude to Gary, Arten, Pursah & ACIM.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beyond belief: my dive into the spiritual depths
Reviewed in the Netherlands on February 26, 2024
As someone deeply interested in spiritual exploration, this book struck a chord with me. The book's conversational style, while unconventional for a spiritual text, made the complex principles of A Course in Miracles (ACIM) accessible and engaging. Renard's interactions with the ascended masters, Arten and Pursah, though hard to believe at times, served as a captivating medium to discuss profound spiritual concepts like forgiveness, the illusion of time, and the nature of reality.

An essential read before embarking on A Course in Miracles which Gary makes much much more understandable in all his books, this one in particular. All his books have content that blow your mind and you want the read to go on forever. It will lead to life changing experiences if you put it into practice. If you like underlining text it's easier to underline the whole book and just reread it again.
