high end.
If you are planning on using a 9th gen Intel processor you will need to flash the bios to optimize performance, but it does boot up and is functional enough on a 9th gen prior to flashing.
It’s a very modest board with few frills, but it’s all I need. All the connections were relatively well labeled. I did have a bit of confusion when attaching the front panel power and LED leads, but it was my fault with rushing through the build. The board has one PCI-E x16 slot and 2 PCI-E x1 slots. I’m using none of them (onboard graphics and no other expansions) so I can’t comment on them, although I’m sure they work. CPU power is a single 4-pin and the board power is the standard 24+4 pin.
The BIOS is easy to navigate if you need to make any adjustments, although my build was quite literally plug-and-play. I installed Windows 10 on an NVME drive in less than 20 minutes. The only hiccup along the way was a few drivers that didn’t install with the rest of Windows. A quick trip to Gigabyte’s website got me the LAN and Intel chipset drivers that Windows didn’t pull in automatically. One thing to note for those who will be using an M.2 drive and other SSD/HDD drives; when the M.2 slot is occupied one of the 6GBPS SATA ports will be deactivated and the PCI lane will be used for the M.2 slot. I'm only using the NVME M.2 drive and no other attached drives, but be aware that if you plan on attaching other drives you'll be short one port if you make your boot device M.2.
So far, everything is chugging along and there have been no issues since the initial build. I’d definitely recommend this board if you’re looking for an inexpensive board and you don’t need any/many features. It gets the job done for not a lot of money.
Huge difference between builds. The ASRock was solid with a few higher end features, like decent heat sinks, intuitive cable hook ups (e.g. direction of Sata conections. The connections were solid and comparable to $150-$200 boards I used the in the past. Nice packaging. Useful Instruction book for connections.
The Gigabyte was junk. All plastic. silly heatsinks (is it still called the southbridge?). Stupid placement and direction of cabling. Instructions were similiar to that throw away walmart furniture that you plan to use for a year. Only needed them for panel connections since letters are so small on the board...not even included. This board is the REASON I build my own and don't buy the pre-builts. Junk components.
Other cons:
Half as many SATA ports. half the USB 3.0. Pins on the board were garbage.
Never Gibabyte again for me.
That said, it posted fine. Can't see the SSD but Im sure Ill figure that out.
When everything was set, my computer entered the BIOS screen, which looks a bit different than the traditional BIOS screen. Most of the settings can be understood by going to the Gigabyte website and reading the support user's manual. The drivers and BIOS you need should be taken from Gigabyte's website before, since the CD probably is outdated, and if your motherboard is like mine, you will not have access to internet until the LAN drivers are installed.
So far my computer has worked fine since. This motherboard is cheap and nice to use if it is your first build or you just want a simple cheap computer.

(Edit: After about 2 weeks of frustration windows updated and now it seems to be fine. I am still not sure what the issue was but it is working again for now.)
Bought this few months ago. Running it 24/7/365 since.
Never had any issues with it.
