Neanderthal Seeks Human, Book #1 in the Knitting in the City Series

Such a fun read! A quirky, nerdy, shy girl and a sexy, hot alpha male.” -Goodreads reviewer
There are three things you need to know about Janie Morris:1) She is incapable of engaging in a conversation without volunteering TMTI (Too Much Trivial Information), especially when she is unnerved, 2) No one unnerves her more than Quinn Sullivan, and 3) She doesn't know how to knit. After losing her boyfriend, apartment, and job in the same day, Janie Morris can't help wondering what new torment fate has in store. To her utter mortification, Quinn Sullivan—aka Sir McHotpants—witnesses it all then keeps turning up like a pair of shoes you lust after but can't afford. The last thing she expects is for Quinn to make her an offer she can't refuse.

Neanderthal Marries Human, Book #1.5 in the Knitting in the City Series
"What an incredibly beautiful, sexy, swoony, smart and funny story about family, friends and love!” - TJ Loves to Read Romance Book Blog “
HOT, STEAMY AND SEXY!” - Feeding My Addiction Book Reviews
There are three things you should know about Quinn Sullivan: 1) He is madly in love with Janie Morris, 2) He’s not above playing dirty to get what (or who) he wants, and 3) He doesn’t know how to knit. After just five months of dating Janie, Quinn—former Wendell and unapologetic autocrat—is ready to propose marriage. In fact, he’s more than ready. If it were up to Quinn, he would efficiently propose, marry, and beget Janie with child all in the same day—thereby avoiding the drama and angst that accompanies the four stages of pre-matrimony: engagement, meeting the parents, bachelor/bachelorette party, and overblown, superfluous wedding day traditions. But Janie, much to Quinn’s dismay, tosses a wrench in his efficacious endeavors and challenges him to prove his devotion by going through the matrimonial motions, no matter how minute and mundane. Will Quinn last until the wedding day? Or will he yield to his tyrant impulses?
This book is not a standalone. It is the sequel to ‘Neanderthal Seeks Human,’ and is book #1.5 in the Knitting in the City series.

I could not love Janie and Quinn more. Or I could, if I had more Quinn POVs, but that doesnt deteact my love for the book, I'm merely pointing out I think it could have been enhanced by the smallest of margins.
What I would like to know is this. Janies random facts. Known by the author or researched? There was alot. I found them both interesting and wonderfully quirky, I found Janie to be brave, fearless and unfraid to be who she was and I loved her for it. Like I said, I would have loved to get more of Quinns POV, just so I could understand where he was coming from. He was kind of strong and silent for me (except when he wasn't ) and I loved him for that. I wonder if it was the authors intent to make him so?
All in all I loved these books, I loved these characters, equal amounts of hot and swoon, angst and heartbreak made a perfect combination for a perfect romantic story that will lead me to read the rest of the Knitting group stories.

Rereading the first book put me in awe of the author all over again. I would love to know if Penny Reid's mind works the way that Janie's does with all those random facts spouting from her all the time. Reid is able to make Janie's weirdness endearing so that it's easy to see why her friends and Quinn love her so much.
In the second book I got a better understanding of Quinn. I'd liked him in the first book, but I really got to love him in the second where I got to see his vulnerability, particularly with his family.
The books have a lot of humor in them, particularly the Vegas wedding chapel scene. I'm sure that scene will be referred to again in subsequent books and I can hardly wait.

First of all, I just LOVED the author's dedication, something I normally skim over. It gave a good indication of the style of book to come in the next pages. I was immediately captivated by Janie, who is hilariously bizarre. Her inner dialogues and off-the-wall tangents are a hoot! I had to reread the first chapter because it was so funny. Actually, I reread most of the book because I was so entertained by the interactions between Quinn and Janie. In addition, I loved learning about all the trivia Janie spouted uncontrollably. A brilliantly good read!! I did not want this book to end.
Penny Reid is a new author for me and now, a favourite.
Reread this book 3 years after the first time in 2017 and loved it just as much! Sheer brilliance!
“Neanderthal marries Human" (knitting 1.5) by Penny Reid-5
I didn’t think it was possible to love Janie and Quinn even more in this book. I loved how considerate they were of each other. I also loved how every so often, we got a chapter with Quinn’s POV. It’s a nice change to have the guy ALSO be insecure about things. I also love the length of the novel as there’s enough time to really get to know the characters; there’s enough trials and tribulations. Sometimes novels can be too short.
Janie just becomes more and more adorable while Quinn’s power of observation of Janie makes his love for her shine through. I LOVE Janie’s random facts and trivia! I’ve learnt so much and have done a lot of side learning.

Clever, witty, romantic, laugh out loud funny with original characters and an engaging story line. I even learned a few new facts that I will be attempting to crowbar into conversations in coming days. People will probably think I'm right clever.
Janie is a true eccentric, rather socially awkward and an unapologetic nerd. I want to be her best friend. Quinn meanwhile is a successful businessman but socially introverted with a permanently inscrutable expression. Kind of all strong and silent but with eyes that burn whenever Janie turns him on - this happens lots. Got to love a strong, silent, alpha protector but this one *whispers* speaks in full sentences...
Their romance is an absolute belly tingling delight to enjoy. This couple has fabulous chemistry and even though the smut is PG, it doesn't matter, I didn't miss it. I know, I was amazed as well, but when a story is this engaging, the chemistry and suggestion of smut is enough.
I loved the secondary characters too, the scenes involving her knitting group buddies and even Quinn's scenes with his best buddy Dan made me feel all warm and glowy. All was well in my world reading this, it was pure contented escapism.
This is a complete story but there are others in the series with recurring characters. I read Love Hacked from this series last year and loved it so I can't wait to read the rest of this series.
Just brilliant. Highly recommended.
