Advanced Technology for Natural SoundCompression is an indispensable tool for the modern bassist. While there are many bass compressor pedals available, the BC-1X stands alone as a completely unique product. Unlike conventional units that compress the fundamental tone and muffle the sound, the advanced BOSS MDP tech in the BC-1X provides perfectly natural compression that never overwhelms the character of your instrument. Every nuance is captured and processed accurately, even with aggressive compressor settings. In every register your sound is true, allowing you to put your heart into playing without fussing with different settings for every song or style. |
Infinite Tonal Possibilities with Simple ControlsWhile normal compressors can be difficult to dial in just right, the BC-1X takes all the guesswork out of getting great sound. Hidden behind the pedal’s simple four-knob interface is a complex multiband processor with numerous interlocking parameters. As you turn the knobs, many parameters are adjusted at once, enabling a wide range of tone shaping with minimal effort. And thanks to the intelligent tech inside, you’ll always achieve perfect sounds at every setting, from subtle dynamic control to extreme compression for effect. |
Pro Features for Performing PlayersThe BC-1X was designed with pro practicality in mind. The 18-volt input circuitry provides ample headroom without clipping, even with the hottest signals from active basses. A 12-segment gain reduction indicator clearly displays the amount of compression at all times, a high-end feature rarely seen in stompbox compressors. The pedal’s noise performance is extremely low in comparison with other compressors, another huge benefit brought by BOSS technology. And with the road-proven BOSS compact chassis, the BC-1X ensures bulletproof reliability for years of demanding pro use. |

Shipment from Japan to the US was five days. Outstanding.
I'm not usually into bass distortion but appreciate a great overdrive. This pedal can get pretty crunch by cranking the drive. I like the blend option as well. Overall, great pedal, built like a tank, great tones and a good value. I'd highly recommend this pedal.
Battery goes fast -- recommend you remove battery between uses if you'll be stowing it for a few days.

Tone is thin and artificial. Drive is useless and lack of EQ versatility
La robustesse et l'efficacité BOSS pour un prix certes un peu élevé mais qui en vaut vraiment le coup.
Compression on bass is a very useful tool. Bass guitar has a far greater dynamic range than guitar and swapping between playing styles (fingers, plectrum, slap) causes massive changes in volume. A good compressor can help reduce those volume changes while still allowing enough dynamics to come through.
This is a multi-band compressor. That means different frequencies are compressed by a different amount. It allows more compression on the treble sounds while letting the heft of the bass sounds to still have their desired impact. The controls are simple and I suspect there is more going on under the bonnet. I suspect the attack time is being altered internally when the other parameters are being changed.
5 and 6 knob compressors can be very fiddly to dial in perfectly. This is really a 3 knob + volume and it is very easy to dial in.
I have maybe 15 different compressor pedals and this one is by far the easiest to set up. It's also the one with the lowest noise floor (hiss) - it's remarkably free of hiss / unwanted noise.
There is no low end roll off / cut that many pedal compressors have so the low end (even on a 5 string) is strong and clear. It's an accurate sound and doesn't colour the tone in any way I can tell. It's just compresses.
The only downside is battery life. If it's always on then the battery will be spent in a couple of hours. Definitely needs a proper power supply. This is not a surprise though for a multi-band compressor.
It's reasonably priced, it's easy to use, it's well designed, and it sounds great. It's also a Boss so it will probably still be working in 30+ years (I have some Boss pedals from the mid 1980s that are still working just fine).
Very impressive.
