*Received an ARC for an honest review* I've been eagerly awaiting Synne's story since the end of the last Kindred book, and this did not disappoint. I absolutely love this series. I love how both Norse and Celtic legend and mythology is intertwined with the hunters, as well as the history of the witches. It lends so much depth to this epic story that Donna Grant is weaving. I think Synne has to be so far my favorite heroine in this series. We meet her as she comes from this horrible tragedy and as she develops through the book, we see such vulnerability and strength but also flaws and she struggles with that as she searches for who she is and where she belongs. And Lachlan, is opposite of her, seems self assured and settled in his roll, but believes in her and her path which makes them well matched and suited for each other. Their fate is intertwined, and as the war with the witches hurtles ever closer and the odds seems to keep stacking against them, The Hunters and the Varoki continue to persevere. I can't wait to see where this story will go after the end of this book.

Evernight is the first book in Ms. Grant’s series, The Kindred, that I have read. Even though it is the 4th in the series, I had no problem following along with the storyline, there is just enough information and backstory to keep new readers informed. I really enjoyed Synne and Lachlan, both strong and courageous characters, who never once faltered in their love for each other. I am looking forward to the next book in the series, and their continuing story. As always, Donna leaves you wanting for more!

(I have ordered the first three books and am looking forward to reading them in the meantime.)

Favorite Quote: “Survive this night, lass. You hold my heart in your hands, and we have many years ahead of us.”

Evernight was everything I've come to expect from this author and I was transported for a few hours into a world of hunters, witches, warlocks, covens, and magical tree beings. I love these stories because they're a nice break from reality and they're short enough to be enjoyed in a single day. The overarching series plot continues in this latest Kindred installment, with the heroine of this story-Synne-setting out on a path towards vengeance. Along the way she meets up with a Scottish laird that steals her heart while aiding her. Lachlan is supportive of Synne, but hopes to sway her from her path because he knows it will not bring her happiness. As the two journey together, they cross paths with Coven witches and other beings. More pieces of the puzzle of Synne's life are brought to light, and she learns that while she may not have magic, she is still an integral part to the story being played out. One of my favorite things about this author's writing is that she pays just as much attention to the villains (and would be villains) of her stories, giving them interesting back stories and plot lines that intersect in such interesting ways. Sybbyl's search for the missing bones continues, and as her power grows she must be more wary of the Coven members she has helping her. I was completely captivated by all of the goings-on and am anxious to learn the fate of the two witch sisters, especially in regards to Sybbyl.

This is a great story that adds much to the series. The story contains loss, friendship, betrayal, hate, revenge, magic, and lots of revelations that reveal truths and answers questions. But above all things it shows love is stronger than anything.
Synne is a Hunter and is grieving because of everyone the Coven has killed. She is heading for the Vorraki while searching for revenge. As she is taking comfort from her beloved trees, a handsome Scotsman comes upon her.
Lachlan is the son of a laird and wants to escort her through their land. After hearing Synne's story he decides to help her find the Vorraki. But the road they travel will be filled with heartache, pain and so much love.
I can't wait to see what is in store for Amir and Malene.
I received an arc copy of this story and chose to leave my honest opinion.

Donna Grant is on my Must Buy list because she has the ability to create some of the most incredible worlds. Evernight is book 4 of the Kindred series. The Kindred series is filled w/ magic, witches, warlocks, hunters, and the evil Coven. While you don't have to read books 1 thru 3, I would highly recommend it to get the full storyline.

Synne is a hunter who just lost everything she knows and loves. Now she is heading to battle. Heading to join the Varokki in their fight against the Coven. She knows she doesn't have magic and will probably die, but she doesn't fear death. Now she only seeks vengeance for her adopted family.

Lachlen is a warrior who fights for his people and his father (his Laird).

Donna Grant once again gives us an incredible story and a such vivid imagery that you can't help but sink into Evernight and follow Synne and Lachlen on their journey.

Can't wait for the story to continue!!

This continuation of The Kindred series follows Synne, a woman trained from childhood in the art warfare and the bow, for one purpose, to end The Coven. A woman who has lost everything at the hands of her enemy and who is willing to risk it all to avenge her family. Well written, I couldn't put it down. I loved the adventure of the journey, the dialogue, interactions, and chemistry with Lachlan (our Hero), the secrets revealed, hating the villain, glimpsing the future, and rooting for a happy ever after. I laughed and cried. All the feels. Donna Grant feeds your appetite and leaves you hungry for more.
