Compared to the original Apollo lantern, this new model is:
- lighter
- brighter
- remembers dimming setting and adds additional strobe feature and lock (using the same button)
- has no moving parts (other than the legs and hook)
- has most of the body acting as a diffuser, providing better area light distribution
- has a rechargeable battery. I haven’t tested how long it lasts, but you have the option to add AA supplementary batteries. You can also recharge a phone or other device with USB cable
- has rubberized areas to protect the internals from moisture.
Overall, a great upgrade to the previous Apollo lamp, albeit a bit pricey for a lamp if compared to hardware store options.
Strong and good design, lightweight enough to carry on your backpack.
