These are easily the best fly boxes I’ve ever used. The hooks slide in easily (once you figure out how they are meant go), the flies stay solidly affixed by the Tacky pad, and the case locks firmly together with neodymium magnets. The only thing that’s not perfect about them is the fact that they don’t float. That said, the lack of buoyancy didn’t keep me from buying two more of the Fishpond Tacky boxes, one for a small kit and the other for larger streamers.

These are probably my favorite fly boxes, but I like one size smaller. This one is at the max for my vest and can be cumbersome to remove and inset, but the quality and usefulness is about perfect. Durable rubber with a clear case so you can see your flies, semi-waterproof with magnetic closure.

This review is for the larger, single-sided Tacky Original Fly Fishing Fly box. First the "PROs": The silicone bed is very high quality, the magnetic closures work well - not too strong, not too weak and it has a small loop to attach to your vest, belt or pack so it doesn't end up in the river. Now the "CONs": The larger box lid is not as sturdy as I had hoped, it flexes more than other boxes I own of similar size, it needs a bit more headroom inside so fly hackles don't get smashed, and it is not waterproof. I will use this one for my still water fly assortment.
