Sunbeam 1400W Steammaster Steam Iron always gets you looking your best. The Shot of Steam feature provides an extra burst of steam to help smooth out stubborn wrinkles on both flat surfaces and vertically on hanging garments. Update 2.11.24... worth the 5 stars.
This is a great iron. Used it on several items today and I love it. It made my pillowcases look fabulous, so I ironed the sheets too! Got out all wrinkles. Love the shot of steam in addition to the cotton/steam setting. Irons beautifully. I appreciate that this doesn't drip water everywhere. It shuts itself off if left sitting on its heel for a
few minutes, but heats right back up quickly. That's a must when I'm sewing things and need to press seams. I can honestly say I enjoy ironing again and when done, the retractable cord is a huge plus. I am using distilled water in my iron, too much calcium in the tap water here, and that will ruin the iron quickly.

If you're on the fence with this iron, I recommend it and say get it. You won't be disappointed (and If you are, you can return it).

Original review: I had a Shark steam iron but I hated that thing with a passion since day one. I finally gave in and bought this Sunbeam...trusted brand, been around for eons, so why not. It was received with a few very small areas on one side of the sole plate that look like tiny scratches, but they're not rough, not raised, don't catch on anything, etc. so I think it's just something in the metal. So far I've used this once, as a test run. I bought a new ironing board cover at the same time, (which arrived with more wrinkles than a Shar Pei!) so I installed the cover and then ironed it. The iron worked well on that. I also ironed interfacing to a piece of fabric. The sole plate did pick up some of the interfacing residue, but it wiped off really easily with a damp microfibre cloth after the iron had cooled off. Love the retractable cord. Makes storting the iron easier. Instructions say to use tap water, but not sure that's such a good idea with all the junk and calcium in the water here,
so I'll be using distilled water in mine. Giving this 5 stars for now.

I had a Sunbeam for years, but I dropped it. When this one arrived, I almost sent it back, because it is
bigger and heavier than my last one. The difference is because this one is stainless steel the other was plastic, I had a large tablecloth to iron for a party, so I had no choice but to use it. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it ironed. There are extra steam settings, which are really nice.
I have one problem with it besides the fact that it is pretty heavy and that is the cord. I have trouble getting it to retract. Otherwise it is a beautiful iron.

I tried another [trusted] brand of iron a few weeks ago and it leaked like crazy all over my clothes. Even on the hottest setting, too much water came when steaming and left me constantly trying to dry the water spots with the iron. So I returned it and bought this one.

I've used it a couple of times and so far, I have had no issues with excessive drips, except when going heavy on the steam button. The iron is far larger overall than any other I've owned but seems not to present any issues with ironing all types of articles of clothing.

The reason it's almost perfect comes down to the retractable cord. While we all like those things to have strong enough retraction so we're not trying to manually shove the last foot of cord in there, mine has so much retraction power that the first time I used the retraction feature, the cord whipped up and hit my hand rather hard. Now when I retract the cord, I have to be careful not to push the button all the way down, and I also use my other hand to guide the cord a bit so it doesn't whip around.

It's still nice to not have to try and wrap the cord around the iron, though, so no deductions of stars for this

I love this iron. I wanted a smaller one for getting into small areas, but it has worked well. I like that steam shows on the sides as you are ironing, which lets you know when the water you sprayed has been ironed out. I haven't tried the auto spray feature; l just use a spray bottle. The retractable cord works well, with a minimum of straightening out as you go along. I happen to love turquoise, so l have left it out on the counter! Its just really pretty!

Used it once so far. not easy to see dial setting against the dash on iron body( hidden under the handle)
feels solid, takes time to generate steam, otherwise, it is good value for the price

Have used several Sunbeam steam irons in the past. This one is affordable. But In comparison, this one disappoints: as previous reviews point out, the fabric dial is too obscure the read easily. Iron doesn't heat quickly - and the temperatures for delicates is way too low to do anything. I have to keep it on the higher settings for most everything. Retractable cord is stubborn - doesn't work easily. Would not buy this again.
