I needed this to replace one of a pair of RAID 1 drives of this exact model. No, the drive it replaced did not fail...it got "borrowed" for another computer. Matching the size and performance is important in a RAID array, so I was glad to see this drive still available. I wish Samsung made more drive types and sizes, as these are some of the most reliable I've found. A couple of 4TB drives would be nice.

This is a good compromise for storage versus price, without taking too much power or losing too much performance. I did find that with a Dell Dimension 9200 it seemed unreliable, and I had to put back the 1 GB Samsung HD103SJ I had hoped to replace, but these disks work correctly in a more modern PC. Recommended.

After purchasing as a replacement for a drive (exact match) went bad, I read that these drives have a terrible life cycle. They have a failure rate in the 25% after 2 years, my other exact drive failed with light use after just a year and a half.

This version is a "grey import", or at least the one I got was. This means that the warranty is covered by Amazon, and according to the support request I raised they will only offer 12 months' warranty.
