This story sucked me in right from the beginning. After reading the Prologue I knew this story was going to pull at my heart strings. And it did, but I also found comedy between the characters, lots of love and some great steam ;)
Kristen Proby will always be a favorite author of mine to read. I have LOVED every book I have read. Her writing style just works for me. I love how she gets right into the story and doesn’t have a lot of filler or excess drama. Her stories are what I turn to when I want a swoony Hero and a romantic love story. I also know when I finish I will have a smile on my face and a warm feeling in my heart.
Waiting For Willa is no different. This book had everything I expect from a Kristen Proby novel. This book is the third in her Big Sky Series. This story is a standalone but it is interconnected with the other two books in this series. I would recommend reading this series in order. It is told in Dual POV. The pace and flow of this story was great. Some may say this is an insta love story, but truly it isn’t. Max and Willa have known each other all their lives.
In this second chance at romance story we follow Willa and Max. Max is the brother of Jenna and Brad (from the first two books) He is a wealthy man who has come back to live in Cunningham Falls. Willa is a single mom who owns her own boutique in Cunningham Falls and has suffered a tragedy and is scared to move forward. Max and Willa were high school sweethearts and thought they had their lives planned out. That is until they wanted different things and Max chose to leave to chance his dreams. Now being back home for the past 5 years, they realize they need to move passed the past. Can Max and Willa find their HEA?? Can they move on from the past and learn to love each other again?? Read this sweet and sexy love story to find out.
I loved seeing all of the other characters from the other books. It is nice to see where they have all gone after their stories ended. This is such a close nit group of friends I feel like I am a part of their lives every time I read one of these books.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is a Kristen Proby fan. Also if you are a fan of romantic and heartfelt love stories with a totally swoony Hero, this is one you will want to read!!!! You’ll be left with a HUGE smile on your face :)
Max and Cary were best friends growing up, and things got interesting when Willa was added to the mix as they got older. She and Max were inseparable as high school sweethearts, but where Max had big dreams of getting out of Cunningham Falls, Willa loved her hometown and just wanted to raise a family there. Max foolishly left with the belief that he would come back later and find her waiting for him. Unfortunately for him, she ended up growing closer to Cary, marrying him and getting pregnant. Then tragedy struck- Max came home to visit, he went skiing with Cary, and one wrong decision by Cary led to his death. Willa blamed Max and he once again left town to spare her the pain of seeing him every day.
Nine years later, Max is back for his brother's wedding. He hasn't left Cunningham Falls completely, but when he is back he tries to avoid Willa as much as possible to avoid causing her pain. He has never gotten over her, but he is willing to stay away if it helps her. On his annual pilgrimage to Cary's grave, he is surprised when Willa arrives before he leaves- and that she seems to have forgiven him for going skiing with Cary that day even if he still hasn't entirely forgiven himself for not stopping him from showboating. But they try to get past the awkwardness of the past decade, and it is clear they still have feelings for each other.
I just adored Alex, Willa's son! He is a genuinely good kid who adds both comic relief and poignancy to the story as he looks to Max as a father figure while trying to learn more about the father he never knew. Max and Willa heat up the pages even as they both struggle with guilt over her moving on from Cary despite the time that has passed since his death. Cary makes his presence and feelings known in little ways from the beyond though. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and definitely recommend it!
Max and Willa were childhood sweethearts until Max decided Cunningham Falls was too small for his big dreams and left. Now that he's made his millions, he's back home and wants another chance with Willa. But Willa isn’t the same person she was ten years ago. She's gotten married, had a baby and made a home. Now she's a single mother to a nine-year-old boy and she owns a dress shop in town.
This is a quick easy read that really hits the heart. There were some incredibly touching moments which, based on the synopsis, I can’t tell you details of without spoiling things. Let's just say there is a slight paranormal element and some things between Max and Willa's son, Alex, with Max sharing memories of his best friend, that are truly beautiful. As we can always count on with Proby's books, this one has the humor and heat to go along with the heart, and it's definitely a 1-Clicker.
