    Product Description

Made just for mirrorless mounts is the new Rokinon 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS lens. It is available in Canon EF-M, Fujifilm X, Samsung NX, Sony E and Micro Four Thirds mounts. Its 35mm focal length equivalency for MFT cameras is 24mm, for Canon M cameras it is 19.2mm, and for the other three mounts, 18mm. With an f/2.0 maximum aperture, it is particularly effective in low-light capture and can control shallow depth of field for precise subject focus with pleasing out-of-focus backgrounds. It offers a minimum focus distance of 7.9". The lens’s impressive optical construction consists of three Extra-low Dispersion elements, one aspherical, and one hybrid aspherical element. The nano-crystal coating is applied to the inner surface of the two front-most lens elements to minimize ghosting and flare and improve overall image clarity. The Rokinon 12mm accepts front filters and provides a 67mm diameter thread.

Go-To Astro Lens for X Mount
I'm not a professional, but as a hobbyist dabbling in astrophotography for the first time I was looking for a wide angle lens that could capture the stars. After investigating Fuji's lens lineup, the main wide angle lenses available at the time were the XF 10-24 and the XF 14. In the 10-24's case, the maximum aperture was only 4. I was looking for something a bit faster so I could keep the ISO down, so that was out. And while the XF 14 has a 2.8 aperture, it just wasn't wide enough. I wanted to capture as much of the night sky as I could in a frame without going into fish-eye distortion territory. With this Rokinon lens clocking in at 12mm and f2.0, it seemed to be exactly what I was looking for.To start with, there are are few gotchas to this lens. The first being is it's manual focus only, though when I shoot the night sky it's not as big of a deal as I usually set the focus to infinity. If you're using this in other situations it could be a deal breaker though. The other issue is it does not report its aperture value to the Fuji camera properly, so the f-stop does not display accurately on the screen or in the photo's metadata. I find this very frustrating when looking back at photos taken months ago and I have no clue what settings I used to get a shot. I also think it could be a tad sharper wide open. For me though, the positives outweigh the negatives. This lens consistently gets shots that my other lenses can't at a very affordable price. It also has an aperture adjustment ring on the lens itself like most Fuji lenses. For me personally, I always like to see some sample photos from a lens before I buy, so I've attached a few that I've taken with this lens to this review. The final verdict - I'd recommend this to anyone looking to get in to astrophotography that has a Fuji camera. If you're interested, I have several more photos with this lens on my Instagram: @DorkTenderloin

This lens is good value for money.

I have attached a real estate video I shot with it. As well as, some test shots playing with its depth of field.

I am using this on a CANON M50. I am not very experienced overall.

Takes clear shots/video like any decent prime lens.

F/2 Aperture gives you decent depth of field, but due to the 12mm focal length it focuses on a very wide area so you have to get pretty close to get the desired effect.

    It is manual focus.
Which has caused some light issues, but helps keep it affordable. Because there is no electric motor connected to the focus adjustment, it takes a bit of force to adjust the focus. If you try and create a changing depth of field effect while recording video you will jostle visibly jostle the image.

It comes with a lens hood and a nice bag which is a very nice touch.

There are certainly better lenses out there, but this lens if perfect if you need a wide angle on your mirrorless camera. Because of the crop factor from EF-M cameras, you won't get a fish eye effect like you would with 12mm on a full frame. You also can't beat the price.

Wonderful lens, bought a used one here at Amazon. Its a fantastic piece of work given the cheap price. When there is plenty of light just set the aperture to F8 and about everything further away than 1m / 3.3 ft is razor sharp. If you set the aperture at F2 it will cost you some time to focus but you get a lovely bokeh.

Pro's: + It does have a solid construction + It is easy to adjust + You will not knock this out of focus or F stop by holding the lens to capture a shot + The sun cover does help + It has a great depth of field + Great for video at 4k when the camera crops (M50) + Sharp details + The construction and mechanics never got loose after almost 1 year of use + Great for real estate photography

Cons: It can suffer from chromatic aberration if left wide open and you are taking shots of a tree with a strong source of light breaking through (Fix is to bump the F stop to 4 - 8 depending on the situation, and bring the ISO to 200-400 if you truly need to) - It is slightly larger than the Canon options - It does not have autofocus

Tips: Make sure to use edge detect and other focus tools are enabled to make sure you are in focus + Get Filters to help with tricky shots + Keep focus in infinite and bring slowly into focus to walk it back towards your subject if shooting between 3-11 feet
