Finding My Night: A Boss/Assistant Romantic Comedy (The Finding) Kindle Edition

The Wishing Shelf Book Awards Bronze Medalist Winner for 2020!
A sassy chef with a crush on her boss finds herself on a 'not-a-date' with him in this hilariously steamy romp. Complete with a problematic socialite, a cream puff fiasco, and a killer dress with a strategic peek of lace, there might also be a man-bun...a pair of dueling best friends...and a wedding...or two.

From the day she got the job as Nick's personal chef, Breanna has been a smitten kitten, but she knows the rules. Nick is her boss, he’s gorgeous, rich, and off-limits. Nevermind the beautiful brat, Veronica, hanging on his arm.

Finding himself inconveniently single on the night of an important gallery event, Nick asks Breanna to stand in as his ‘plus one’. What Breanna doesn’t know is that Nick has a crush too, and he’s hoping that this ‘not-a-date’ is anything but business...until Veronica crashes the party.

Two love stories, two HEAs, double the fun! A perfect read for those who want the drama low, the steam high, and the laughs one right after the other.

Review

I will say, there is a delicious moment in the book where I laughed so hard (out loud) and couldn't stop. There were also moments that explored some serious issues and taught me something (about myself). There were super sexy fire-hot moments (so good). My favorite moments, though, were the explanation of the title "FINDING MY NIGHT" (rewarding and very romantic), when the couple opened up (both couples), how deeply moved I was by each of the characters backstories, and what they felt so deeply for each other. I could feel it through the pages. It was INTENSE. Lexi Miles, Romance Author/Reviewer

Excuse me for a minute while I officially fan-girl and swoon all over Halo Roberts and Finding My Night! This book was a fabulous mix of sweet, romance, steamy scenes and comedy. Roberts nailed it! The Lusty Literarians

I was crying from laughter for over half the read.

I have to say that the low drama factor was great in my opinion, two people fall in love and feel good together and that's enough. Sure there are more dramatic moments but it's never over the top and always believable. Kyra Fox

From the beginning of the book, I was immediately drawn in. Like to the point where I had a smile plastered on my face while reading, to squirming while reading the steamy parts... Halo as a writer flows seamlessly throughout the story, introducing and intertwining characters with grace.

Annastacia Pierce

This is my first book by Halo Roberts and it will not be my last. Martha L

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Finding My Night. This was a wonderful light-hearted, fun, swoon-worthy read filled with many steamy scenes. It was my first book by Halo Roberts and I look forward to reading more. Rachel

I stayed up all night just to finish it!!! Ally M

I was hooked on page one! This book has humor, blush-worthy moments, spunk, and sensual romance! Love it!–Lexi Miles, Romance Author/Reviewer

Summary (Dual Story):

Breanna, a young chef in training, has been working as a house assistant (housekeeper/chef) to the immensely rich Nick. Bree secretly harbors a crush for her ultra-sexy boss. The only hitch, he is taken by the bratty and beautiful socialite Veronica. Will Bree ever get her chance to show Nick how she really feels? Will they get a chance to answer the call of passion?

Meanwhile, during the book, Bree requests that the very spunky Margo collaborates with Bree's uptight friend on a project. The two are oil and water but must find common ground to make sure the project is a success. Are they really opposites or is there more causing the tension?

Review
3 words to describe this novel: Hilarious, Spunky, Sexy!

What a ride! You may need to fan yourself while reading this one! Yes, it is that hot! You may also blush with embarrassment, wiggle in your seat (some uncomfortable/blush-worthy moments), and do all the fun things a book should make you do when you're having fun reading it! This book is smartly written and incredibly enjoyable!

The tone of the entire book is fresh and fun! Each story is clearly told from both characters' points of view as well as bluntly shares each characters' inner thoughts. Author Halo Roberts did a flawless job head-hopping (not confusing/logical). Telling it from both characters' perspectives definitely punched up the storytelling. It was a great choice that added another dimension of depth.

From the start, this book lets you know you’re in for a fun read! You are immediately clear on how attractive Nick is (swoon) and are instantly team Bree over Veronica (the witch). I cannot say more than that because you deserve to enjoy all the fun twists and turns for yourself!

Having said all that, the story had a great pace. I also found the characters to have depth, to be likable (kind, spunky, blunt, upbeat, and still rough around the edges), and to be people I invested in quickly (as if I knew them or were them). The characters were complicated but brave enough to be open to love. I found their honesty enjoyable and their energy made me fall in love with the story as they fell in love with each other.

Like all love stories, there are complications. But there were a few that even I did not see coming. I found that refreshing. There also were incredibly touching moments (of thoughtfulness) in the story that warmed my heart and were extremely tender.

The characters had some tough issues to reveal, yet they put on their grown-up pants and did it (no matter how hard it was or what it could cost them). That felt realistic. It was thrilling and super hot!

Overall, I highly recommend FINDING MY NIGHT. It is a goody!

Steamy Scenes, check. Hot Alphas, check. Strong female leads, check. Humor, check (possibly two, yep that funny). Love that warms your heart, check. Rewarding ending with the promise of another great book like it (stand-alone sequel snippet included), check. It ticks all the boxes!

I give it 5 Stars! It is worth reading and reading again and again! Time well spent!

I wish the stories were longer and not so instalove feeling but with that being said . William and Margo's back and forth was my favorite couple of this book I like two hea and one two be determined definitely going to read the next book. Breeana and Nick's story was fast and with a touch of humor. This book is all steamy chemistry though !!

Finding My Night by Halo Roberts is a sweet low angst romance between an aspiring Chef named Bree and an art dealer named Nick. She's his personal chef and since day one they had an instant interest in the other but it took them months to acknowledge it. Nick needs a date to an art opening he decides to go for it and ask Bree to accompany him. When they discover they each harbour the same feelings they go full steam ahead and make up for lost time. Bonus, the book contains two HEA stories in one, with the reader getting to read about Bree's aunt Margo and Nick's father's friend William finding love.

Finding My Night is set up a little different from the romances I usually read. Most books are set up where the beginning of the book is getting know the main couple then they meet and it's either insta love or it's a slow build angst. Finding My Night starts with the couple already secretly pining after each other for a few months and getting together at the start. From there we get to experience their happily ever after with them. It's filled with sweet declarations of love and steamy intimate scenes . Both relationship in the book are fast paced and quick to the L word. The intimate scenes were hot and plentiful , my only issue with them being that they were a bit wordy. At times , especially when they start out, they feel like step by step instructions on how to do the deed which took away some of the passion for me.

Overall, I think Finding My Night is a strong first novel and I'd be interested in reading future works by Halo Roberts.

While I'm not usually one to read a boss romance, this one was a fun read. It was sweet, fast passes romance with plenty of steam. If you're into boss romances, this is a great start to a series that will surely keep you begging for more.

I had no idea when I purchased there were 2 stories, it was like winning the romance book lotto! I i enjoyed Nick and Bree's story and sighed happily when it ended so when I turned the page to find a story of two characters I already knew, I was thrilled and kept reading until I finished their story too (I'm trying to avoid spoilers here but I'm equally excited to read book three next as I know that character as well and have high hopes for her story!)

I received a copy as part of a giveaway to read and give my honest opinion. This is a two part book and both are HEA with different couples. Nick and Bree and the Margo with Ford as the two couples meet, fall in love, and get their HEA.

What did I like? I found the first couple charming as Bree is housekeeper for Nick but then ends up his g/f. Her bright and bubbly personality ends up being a beacon that draws Nick. Then up comes Margo planning a wedding for Bree, she meets Ford, Nicks Best Man and they kind of eye each other with sparks flying everywhere.

Would I recommend or buy? It’s an enjoyable read, and their both novella length so I wished for a longer book. Reasonably though both tales were good.

Thoughts for the author? Thanks so much for allowing me to read this in exchange for my thoughts!

I found myself needing a good happily ever after, and this book did not disappoint! Not one, but two great endings! The characters were relatable, enticing, and easy to fall for. Can’t wait to see the next work by Halo!

I really enjoyed this book, it's really two books in one, or two stories in one but all the characters are in both books so it's nice to see how their story evolves too.
The difference with this book is that it starts with the couple getting together and then you follow through how they fall in love and start to share their lives together, most books are leading up to this point and then end just as they become a couple so I loved that I got to find out more about them as a couple and the ups and downs they go through.
