No need breaking them in and I know they are slip proof cuz I wore them in these winter ice storms with an inch of ice on the ground and with me being clumsy I didn't fall. They are also great athletic shoes. Great fit and they bend with your feet. I work at Dollar General so there is a lot of climbing on ladders and heavy lifting. Good grip too. So I would highly recommend these to anyone. Comfortable. When I jog up and down the isles my toes jam into the tips of my shoes making them hurt horribly. But these give my toes plenty of room without having to order an extra size larger. And they are the best looking work shoes I've ever seen. So thanks for a great work shoe! :)

Super comfortable sneakers that look sleek and provide support. I bartend, which demands that I'm on my feet for 9-13 hours a day, 4 or 5 days a week. I usually tear through sneakers, they provide support AND remain slip-resistant for maybe 3-4 months before I have to buy new ones. Not only do these sneakers last longer (6-7 months, which is really good for the use!), but they are also very affordable (around $60). They are tried and true and I've been ordering this exact shoe for the last two years. If you have a job like mine that requires standing for long periods of time and are mandated to be black, I strongly recommend these. I usually wear size nine heels, 8 1/2 sneakers but I order these at nine and they fit perfectly. I'd recommend ordering a 1/2 size up. Oh, also very important, these shoes are indeed slip-resistant. A lot of work shoes boast this claim, but these make the cut. Skirting around the bar and over drink spills regularly, I would know!

I wear a 9 but in the store I went to it was very tight they didn't have a 9.5 so I ordered it on here. It's a bit to roomy in the toes but fits okay otherwise. I can only wear solid black shoes at work. I have a bad back, bad knees, and no needing a more supportive shoe for a now bad foot support issue. I am in my 30's and still like style!! This was the only shoe I found with some decent style, support, and solid black. The shoe is lightweight and easy to walk in. It does have a lot of support which I am getting used to as I am used to flats. I just wish the 9 to 9.5 was more accurate. It runs small but the size up has a lot of toe room making it feel a little sloppy for me as I have thin feet. For a wider foot it would be perfect. Overall I like the shoe, I like the brand, I buy sketchers a lot and would in the future purchase again.

I read some of the reviews that said they needed to be broken in, and, let me tell you....if you can make it past the initial few days of breaking them in, they are great! I had blood blisters on both of my heels, and my feet were so sore....so, I had to go back to my old shoes for about a week while my feet heeled, and, when I went back, they've been great ever since! Definitely worth the purchase. Just have to put up with the initial pain for the long term benefits. Love these shoes, now.

Great shoes for medium length shifts

I bought these shoes for volunteer shifts, some of which are 5+ hours standing the entire time. My previous shoes were just normal walking shoes from Walmart, and at the end of a shift my feet, legs, and back would hurt really bad. I have been wearing these shoes for about 2 weeks now with compression socks, and my feet no longer hurt after a shift. When I first tried the shoes on there was an issue with the part of the shoe around the ankle being a little too tight, but after a few days it stretched out. These shoes look great with scrubs or jeans. I also noticed that they are waterproof to a certain extent, so cleaning outside enclosures is no problem with these shoes. I recommend these shoes to anyone who has to be on their feet for moderate shifts.

I purchased these shoes as a replacement for one of Skechers' laceless "bicycle shoe" style sneakers. I've come to love laceless shoes, because I have to take my shoes on and off all the time. While I love the smaller profile of the biker shoes, they were ultimately "fashion sneakers" and I wore holes through the soles! After deciding I needed something more sturdy, I found these. I am so far pleasantly surprised by these shoes: they look pretty good, they have excellent grip (at least for everyday use and occasional hikes) and are very comfortable. I have high arches, and was expecting to have to use arch supports, which I've had to do for every other shoe. The insoles that came with the shoe are pretty good, and even help with my plantar fascia, too. Time will tell how long the insoles last.

I took off one star for a couple of things: I found that while they fit from toe to heel, they are wide for my feet. I also found that with thin socks, one shoe gave me a blister above my heel. Problem was solved by wearing better socks.

The exterior did not fail or tear, although I was not taking care of it. The only reason I replaced it was the insole getting old.
